I signed a 1-year contract with PPF Athletics on 10-1-24 for $1,443 and used my membership until 10-31-24. However, due to severe pain from a herniated disc (diagnosed in Dec 2024), I was unable to continue using the gym. As a result, I emailed a request on 10-28-24 to freeze my membership starting 11-1-24.Since then, my condition worsened, and my doctor has strictly advised against any activity that could aggravate my injury. Given that I am medically unable to use the services I paid for, I requested a partial refund of $1,322.75, covering the remaining unused months.I understand the contract states refunds are only granted for permanent disabilities per GA law, but enforcing this policy in my case feels unreasonable and unfair. Many reputable gyms allow medical cancellations when conditions prevent participation, and GA consumer protection laws discourage enforcing contract terms that block fair relief when a customer cannot use a service.I offered the gym owner, *******, the option to transfer my membership to a friend. However, he contacted her directly and discouraged her from accepting, which I believe was inappropriate. Given the circumstances, I am requesting a refund, as the prepaid amount is significant.******* was aware of my back condition, yet still persuaded me to sign a 12-month contract by offering a discounted rate of $120.25 (down from $159), which now appears to have been more about securing payment than ensuring the service was suitable for me.Additionally, the gym lacks equipment appropriate for someone with my conditionthere are no treadmills or low-impact machines, only weightlifting equipment, which I cannot safely use. Had suitable equipment been available, I would have continued ************ light of these facts, I feel I was taken advantage of during a vulnerable time and respectfully request a refund (As they didnt respond to my emails, i had to send a demand letter - Attached)
