Paid an almost $3K deposit for a custom-built kitchen island in August, 2023. Told that I'd get the process started in late October, but then it was pushed back to late November. due to their backlog. In late February, 2024, I get a call from ***** promising that they'll be out to take measurements in two weeks. No show, no response, no emails, no calls. Since my corporate office is located out of state, I fly frequently back and forth, usually for several weeks at a time. I told ***** that I had a work trip from the end of February for 3-4 weeks so timing was important. When I returned home to GA mid-March, 2024, I was beyond fed up and requested a refund. ****** emailed me more excuses and kept trying to call me, asking me to be more patient?!! At this point, there was no reason to listen to any further false promises. I have hired countless contractors in the last 25+ years, but this is the first time that I have ever been ripped off by one. I requested in writing a full refund, but was told that SML doesn't do refunds (????). I was then told that work on my custom island had begun, and it would be available for pickup the following week! I offered to have my kitchen remodel contractor go to their location to pick up my island the following Monday, and asked them to confirm. I have not heard anything back from them since. I do not think that anything was ever built, and that ****** and ***** may have overlooked my order initially and just opted to never honor the agreement to provide me with a custom-made island as specified. I had a general contractor at my home for almost 7 weeks from late December until mid February specifically to renovate my house. A year later and they have done nothing to make amends. I just want my money back so that I can hire someone else, since I don't have a kitchen island at all and have to try to get a general contractor scheduled all over again.
