On 1/16/23, *** from Southern Star Tree provided us with a quote to remove approximately nine (9) pine trees from our property. He identified the trees as either dead, dying or in need of prompt attention. The scope of work indicated the following: "Drop approximately 9 pine trees. Clean up debris already on ground. Chip all limbs. Haul all wood. R.C.B. Said job to be $1,600." On or about 1/24/23 a crew came out to perform the tree removal. When they were done, we were left with a large amount of red dirt stains and mud stains on our driveway, and deep trenches where their equipment went through the yard. Our home is new construction, and we have a very long driveway that we paid $40,000 in concrete costs. Before the crew left, they indicated that they would come back and pressure wash the driveway. Both my husband and I called and sent text messages to *** to schedule the power wash. Each time we contacted ***, we received a different date for when they would come back out. This continued until my last text message to *** on 2/11/23, after which he no longer responded. To remove the driveway staining, we had to contract with another company to do the power wash, at a cost of $100. We feel that we have been taken advantage of, both as senior citizens and as being Black. We paid Southern Star Tree promptly with a certified check, but only received a partial service. After the tree removal, the crew still left a good amount of smaller debris that they failed to remove, and they failed to perform the power wash of our driveway as they indicated they would. We are requesting reimbursement in the amount of $100 to compensate us for the cost of having the driveway power washed by another company for their failure to do so. We are also requesting that they remove the rest of the debris that they left behind after performing the tree removal service. And we are requesting that they smooth out the ground from the deep trenches left in the ground by their equipment.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  I dealt directly with the President of the business to resolve the situation.  He was great to work with, and was very quick to address all of my concerns.  If I could remove my complaint against this company I would; however, I hope my response is satisfactory to address any questions any consumer might have in dealing with this company.

      Sincerely,
