I have read response from Life Floors, Inc.

A sample of the product was mailed to me and had no marks of any kind on the floor.  I was told it was a closeout but that it was good.  I bought from the company similar floors many times before.  Apparently, from when I bought and paid for floors and received delivery the ownership changed.  I paid around $1900 for floors, I then paid around $600 for delivery.  I called the company when I received the floors and they told me that the yellow marks on floors was standard.  "Install floors and the marks will easily come off".  They sent me some extra boxes because their were alot of really defective looking material in the first boxes I had opened.  I proceeded to cull through flooring and install what was acceptable.  When I got to end my men tried to clean the big bright yellow marks off and it would not come off.  At that time floor was already installed and glued down!  I called owner again, he said he would reimburse me for my cost to salvage the floors since they were already installed.  That was the agreement.  I got every type of cleaner available and could not remove marks.  House could not be sold with floors with marks everywhere, obviously it was all marked to be discarded material.  The floors could not be professionally sanded because the material was too thin,  the only thing left to do that we could come up with is to hand sand every mark off so as to remove the polyurethane and not get into the actual stained wood.   The owner agreed to reimburse me for labor and materials and I sent him itemized bills for cost.   I trusted him and proceeded.  It did not come out like a new floor but I had no choice but to accept what I ended up with.  It was a lot of work for me, my men and so much extra time to complete it like two weeks extra.  I sent the bills (and now the owner has ignored me and never responded.  Now his reply of giving me a credit was never conveyed to him (approximately  $2,000 labor and material cost).  I do not want a credit at this point.  This was complete fraud to sell me something that should have been thrown away!  Obviously, the company has left me hanging.  Since the company has not attempted to rectify the issue, please post this with the better business bureau as a  report on this company, so others do not get burned by this company!  BAD unreputable company-don't trust or buy from them!   **** ******
ough and use the good boards only. They company has been called repeatedly and have left me with no compensation!

Our company is very open with all customers about the quality and potential risk involved purchasing a closeout product, 2nd quality and others. We notate on the bottom of each invoice the risk involved in purchasing deeply discounted flooring. **** ****** was mislead by an employee on the quality of the flooring and was fired shortly after the problems came to light. I would love to work out a credit in our system but that was not an option for the customer. She wants to be paid immediately for the work she chose to do to the flooring. I have personally been involved trying our best to come up with a compromise. I will again offer a credit with our store for the mishap, which normally do not do on a 2nd quality product, due to the fact we receive no return compensation from the vendor.

This was not a fraudulent transaction and sadly this happens when buying closeouts, 2nd quality, Cabin Grade and other clearance products. No one on our company side did anything intentionally to harm our relationship with the customer. Their was a conversation between the General Manager ***** *** and the customer where is was stated in text message that we could work out a credit for the supposed inferior product. Also we at no additional cost to the customer ordered and sent an additional 8 Cartons to help complete the project. **** Industries does not issue refunds on closeout products especially when several months after the order is placed. We will be absorbing the loss to assist the customer. A Credit will be issued in our system for the customer. **** can always call ***** to discuss some further choices with refunding/Crediting her for her loss.

    Customer Answer

I received the response to the dispute.  This was a bait and switch.  I was sent samples of floor with no yellow marks and I am familiar with irregulars and closeouts, because I have bought many times, but I have never received a product like this.  They sent me a totally different product from the one I bought.  I informed Mr. *** and instead of letting me return it he told me to install it and marks would come off.  I paid approximately $1,800 for floor than I paid approximately $600 for delivery and then, I had to pay another $1800 to hand sand the floors.  I spoke with Mr. *** all along.  He agreed to reimburse for labor cost.  I followed his instructions to install and then to try to repair.  He never said anything about a store credit.  I have tried to call him and contact him repeatedly and he will not answer his phone or any emails.  I have no projects under way and I do not want a store credit, that was never the deal.  They have reneged on everything.  I spoke with saleswomen involved who no longer works for them because of this type of behavior.  She said she offered her commission back and they did not take it.  She has repeatedly tried to get them to do the right thing and they refuse.  I understand this could have been a mistake on there part but they have had ample opportunity to offer a settlement figure to end this, but they have not.
