So we hired a so called contractor company called ***** Ace Remodeling and Handy Services LLC., they had done a job for us before which was caulking around all of the windows and doors and fixing the holes in the cedar siding where the birds had pecked into. Not a bad job. So we then hired them for a bigger job which was to fix up the laundry room and 1/2 after a toilet leak. Well this job started at the end of September and it is now February!!We have paid *** (***** ****** and his wife *****) $10,000 so far of our insurance monies and the remodel is still not complete!!!Hubby finally put his foot down and said get someone else in here to finish this job. So I did. This Contractor started taking down the sheetrock that was not put up correctly found NO INSULATION, screws into electrical wiring, plumbing not done to code in the basement as well as in the laundry room, header that was put in not secured properly. And yet *** wanted more money. He used 3 buckets of mud that should have only should have used maybe 1 1/2!!! He wanted to buy our red trailer to find out later it was because his black one was being repo'd and it was done so at my home!! Had independent contracting *** come in and they found so many things that were not in code and warned us that that we should not let this company do any more work on our home. So now we are out 10K and do plan on going to court and getting what we can and making sure that this idiot never does this to anyone else!!! If you have used the moron please do not recommend to anyone else. He will steal your money. Also he IS NOT part of the BBB that is a lie also.

On 17 Oct 2023, ***'s Ace Remodeling here after refered to as "***'s" sent a contract with the deliverables as "light remodel" for a house I own at ******************* ******* GA.. We discussed ceilings work on 3 rooms (a kitchen, living room and small bedroom),, pain the interior walls upstairs, install sheetrock and paint on one wall, and remove sheetrock in basement. in those same rooms and kitchen cabinets. ***'s was to scrape off sheetrock mud applied with a toothed hand trial to leave a smooth surface and a finished painted ceiling, paint the walls and kitchen cabinets. I used Venmo to transfer a 50% deposit of $2096 to ***'s company to begin work. A second payment of $1096 on 20Oct2023 was made per request. The ceiling have brown spots bleeding through the final coat and the walls have a similar unfinished look. ***'s sent another estimate for additional work on 30Oct2023. This work was to include remove a double window, installing an exterior French door (I wamted a steel door from ********** that cost about $600), removing a tiled kitchen floor and installing new laminate flooring, moving framing for doors of basement bedrooms and a bathroom plus other work. ***'s installed an interior wood Freench door without locks instead of an exterior door. Apaint bucker of was used to keep the the doors closed to the exterior. I paid invoices for this work also.Another esitmate was done in early November for a new roof and plumbing for the entire house. The roof work was started, Less than half is complete. Ice and Water shield was specified and not used. Old vent boots were reinstalled. No drip edge was installed. Starter row of shingles was installed incorrectly, Substandard shingles were used and not installed correctly (rain gutters were misaligned). I have paid $18822 of an estimated $19575 (plus an additional cost for an exterior french door and delivery). ***'s owner has insulted me, insinuated I was evil, and wants money before starting. Exhausted!

    Business Response

I understand that **************** has made some serious allegations against myself and my company regarding the work done at his rental home. However, I would like to provide some context to the situation.
From the very beginning, **************** made it clear that he did not want to invest a significant amount of money in updating and remodeling the rental home since it was not his personal residence. Advised him to visit our website, as it demonstrates our commitment to providing high-quality work without cutting corners to reduce costs.
**************** hired my company and another company was hired to do the roof work. The evening before the schedules start date, I received a call from him requesting me to arrive by 8:30 AM the following morning and move a small trailer that was in the top driveway. I explained that I would not be able to get there in time, but he could either move it himself or have the other company move it out of the way. It wasnt loaded with anything and I would arrive as soon as possible.
When I was in route to the property the next morning, **************** called me and informed me that the other company had decided to park on the side of the steep hill instead of moving the trailer. Unfortunately, the brakes on the trailer came loose, resulting in a tragic accident where a 19-year-old worker from the other company lost his life. **************** was a witness to this unfortunate Incident
Understandably, Ill work had to be haunted for the day due to the severity of the situation. However, **************** arrived at my property home/business, yelling and accusing me in front of my family and neighbors of being responsible for the young worker death, I want to improvise that I have video footage from security cameras on my property including my doorbell ring, which clearly shows him doing this.
It appears that **************** may be holding personal feelings against me due to this tragic incident. He has now taken it upon himself to inspect the unfinished job and point out at alleged defect agencies and mistakes. It is important to know that this job was not yet completed, and I had not handed it over to him or informed him that it was finished. Despite this I have proof of purchase from ********** where I bought the specific products he requested for the job additionally I have photographs documenting these products on his roof and his original packaging.
During the course of this project, There was some issues that the installation of the shingles, which I acknowledge. However, at this time I was unable to address these issues as I was out sick with a severe dental infection that caused my face to swell up. I have photograph evidence of my swollen face and the prescribed antibiotics provided by my doctor. I had scheduled appointments to rectify Mistakes made by my team. Unfortunately, **************** did not wait for me to return to work and instead called another company to come in and fix issues without giving me the opportunity resolved them first.

Furthermore, regarding the French doors that was installed, **************** had approved them without requesting still doors. I have extensive text text messages conversations between the two of us, which clearly shows his approval and comments regarding the doors. He even stated that he would handle a lot himself, I placed a bucket in front of the door to prevent them from blowing open in case of strong winds until he return to secure them himself. I asked him multiple times if he would he believed it would be safe, and he assured me that it was.

In conclusion, I want to empathize that I have always personalize the satisfaction and safety of my clients. I have taken every necessary step to address any concerns and have evidence to support my actions throughout this entire process. I hope that this will additional information, the BBB can understand the circumstances surrounding *********** complaints and take it into consideration when assessing the situation.

    Thank you,

**** Ace Remodeling & Handy Services LLC
