    My partner (***************************) had surgery today at the Gainesville Surgery Center. Our insurance has an **** Health Reimbursement Account. The staff did not know how to handle this. The account/fund reimburses the provider of service (when the provider is a participant with the insurance plan- and Gainesville Surgery Center is). My partner has had other procedures there before and we had the same insurance and they same HRA and everything has been fine. The cEO- *************************** refused to accept the **** which pays the provider and not the patient but instead, after 1.5 hours after we arrived required that we pay and were told if the insurance/HRA paid we could receive a refund of any overpayment. We paid, but this persons lack of knowledge about how HRA accounts work for patients with their insurance is disturbing. This place is used by many - TERRIBLE experience!!!

    Patient HRA account had not been activated to make payment to Gainesville Surgery Center. On date of surgery one third payment per policy was collected from patient and remaining balance set up on payment plan.

    Once HRA payment was activated to Gainesville Surgery Center credit card amount was refunded and payment plan cancelled.

    I had surgery on 7/3/2023 and was told I had to pay $5784.39 upfront before I could have surgery. Gainesville Surgery Center overcharged me $3825.94. They themselves, at a later date, admitted to their mistake and said they would mail a check for a refund. They refused to put it back on my credit card. I have not received a refund and have phoned several times. I have provided updated address information and made sure they had all the correct contact information. No one has returned my call, nor attempted to solve the problem. I have the explanation of benefits from my insurance company, clearly showing what the insurance company paid them and the amount I should have been charged. I need the refund to be issued back to my credit card in the same manner they charged me.
