This company advertises for fire extinguisher inspector positions with no experience required. when you go to the application, they ask if you are comfortable with commission only. If you answer no, then you do not hear back. If you answer yes, then you get an email saying congrats only 1/5 applicants are accepted. You mean only 1/5 are stupid? Not to mention their employment ads post guaranteed weekly pay. If they are scamming employees then clearly they should not be trusted.

    Business Response

    *******,

This appears to have nothing to do with business as this is not posted from a customer standpoint, but instead revolves around the recruiting process. There seems to be some missing information and context left out of your statement. Please allow me to clear a few things up.

Your problems mentioned that will be addressed in order:
1- ************ advertises for fire extinguisher inspector positions
2- They ask if you are comfortable with commission only
3- If you answer no, then you do not hear back
    4- 1/5 are stupid
5- Employment ads post guaranteed weekly pay

1-The position you are referring to is for our Fire Extinguisher Technician position. We do not ever advertise or refer to this as an "inspector" position, as this implies a government entity, which we are not. Part of our job as a technician does require us to manually inspect fire extinguishers, however, we do not refer to ourselves as inspectors.
2-Our ads are set up to direct applicants to our website (www.orionfireteam.com) where they can find an application to apply. When you do your research on our company and visit our website, you will find that it is clearly stated, "The compensation for this job is strictly commission based." On our application, we ask the question of "Are you comfortable with commission based pay?" We ask this question to confirm that the applicant is indeed comfortable with commission based pay, as this is the way we pay our technicians. We also ask up to 15 other qualifying questions on this application that help us determine whether this will be a good fit for yourself as an applicant, and a good fit for the company.
3-We go to great lengths to filter our applicants as this is a very sought after position. We use an autonomous filter that notifies you immediately upon submission of your application as to whether or not we will be proceeding with your application. One of the ways we verify a great fit for an applicant is by including questions that, if answered contrary to what the position requires, will render your application non-viable immediately. If you were to answer " no " to the question of "Are you comfortable with commission based pay?" then your application will be non-viable because this is how we pay our technicians. If your application is deemed non-viable, as soon as you submit your application you are notified of this via a message on your screen notifying you that the information submitted does not match any of the positions we have available and we will not be proceeding with your application. If you submit an application that lines up with what we are looking for and what the position requires, you are notified immediately with a congratulatory statement that we will be proceeding with your application. Your statement of "you do not hear back" is simply untrue based upon the autonomous notification that we generate based on the results of the information that you submit.
4-We do not consider any of our applicants "stupid" for submitting an application deemed viable by information that lines up with what we are looking for in the ideal candidate to provide fire safety to the public. Our selection process is rigorous due to the serious nature of our industry. The ratio of "1:5 applicants are accepted" is a very true statement and we do not view those applicants that are initially accepted as "stupid" however, we respect your opinion of such. We have thousands of applicants deemed viable for the position initially and take great pride in interacting with our applicants-viable or not. As with any company that is hiring, not everyone is going to fit the parameters for what the company requires to fill a position. It appears that you may have submitted multiple applications with us that were deemed both viable and non-viable to collect the information that you have, but we currently do not show any record of your application or contact information in our system. I do encourage you to reach out to us directly if you are dissatisfied with how your application was handled or would like the status of your application.
5-Our current job ads do not "post guaranteed weekly pay" The pay that is mentioned in the ads is a very real average of what you can expect from being a Fire Safety Technician with us. We are limited by recruiting platforms as to how/what information we can post, however, if you need clarification on how the pay is calculated, you can always visit our website or contact us directly. Applicants that are brought on board with us have a clear understanding of how their pay will be calculated and what to expect. We do not ever "scam employees" or anybody that Orion works with. We are a legitimate business seeking to progress the understanding of, and adherence to, fire safety standards.

We will honor and respect your desire of no further contact, but we do want to reiterate that if there are any misunderstandings or concerns in the future, that you contact us directly to solve the matter. Thank you.
