Because of health Issues, we placed an order for a Premier, Limited Lifetime Warranty, King-size (2 twin mattresses 38 x 80) Flex-A-Bed with our area Rex-A-Bed dealer (***** ******** ********** ********** ***and paid in full 4-26-2022. Bed setup occurred 5-23-2022. We protected the mattresses with mattress cover/pad.

In September 2022 when the mattress cover/pad was removed for cleaning, small loops of thread (photo A) were noticed on the mattress surface seam near the welt trim. The mattress cover/pad remained off and these thread loops were checked periodically. The thread loops continued to become larger and detach from the mattress {photo B); also, other thread loop areas appeared. The retailer was notified and photos were submitted the beginning of August, 2023. The retailer informed us his repairman would come to do a repair.

(Because the repairman had surgery, he did not come until 11-26-2023.) However, when he came, he made no repair because he had no machine and he stated the reason for the thread coming out of the mattress was "the thread loops were not locked". Photos were taken by the repairman's wife and submitted to the retailer.

We then spoke with the owner of Page Bedding, who manufactures bed mattresses. When shown the photos, he stated "it appears the loopers are out of alignment and did not catch the thread causing 'misstitch'." Because this thread did not lock, the entire seam will disengage from the fabric.

We have been married 57 years. We have purchased mattresses of various brands (****** ****** ****** ***** *********) and NEVER encountered loose stitching.

An email dated 12-5-2023 from ******** ********. at Flex-A-Bed stated these photos were shown to the production manager and he stated ''if you snip the threads, It will stop pulling." This is not true. This thread continues to separate from the mattress. In our opinion, the mattress stitching is defective. This i not what we paid for!

The loose thread loops were noticed 15 months after purchase. If there had been no mattress cover/pad, the thread loops would have been discovered within the 12 month warranty period.

We were unable to locate anyone who could correct this situation. Returning the mattresses to Flex-A-Bed ($100 per mattress for boxing and pickup; $100 per mattress fee for repair; plus shipping and handling to and from the manufacturer, is not an option. We live in Pennsylvania. We do not live in Georgia. It Is not possible for us to transport the mattresses.

The Flex-A-Bed operations Manual for Premier Beds states, "Because Flex-A-Bed builds every bed by hand, we stand behind our product with a great warranty. This warranty covers the entire bed-each and every component and design feature (even the mattress!), without exception."

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:  Why is only one mattress being sent and not two as the problem exists with both mattresses.  Apparently there has been a miscommunication.  Our letter's final paragraph requests replacing "mattresses" not a mattress.

      Sincerely,

To justify the replacement of the second mattress, we are submitting a few photos of the problems with the second mattress.

      In additon to loose stitches

Stitches near the welt are not on track—they are going everywhere.  Either there was a problem with the machine  or an employee was just learning how to use the machine

We are shipping the 2nd mattress out tomorrow to the dealer in Johnstown, PA.  ***** ******** ********* will delivery both replacement mattresses upon receipt.  Mrs. ********* refused delivery of the first mattress.  Flexabed considers this issued closed after shipping her two replacement mattresses.
