    In **** ****, the security of my storage unit was compromised when the metal fixture my padlock affixes to was cut. Despite numerous requests for repairs, this issue was never addressed. Subsequently, on ******** ** ****, my unit was vandalized and burglarized. To my knowledge, and as confirmed by the company, my unit was the only one affected. As of ******** ** ****, my unit remains unsecured, with the door currently propped wide open. I have suffered the loss of numerous items, many of significant value, including several irreplaceable personal possessions. I have made multiple attempts to have the storage facility secure my unit, but no action has been taken. Additionally, the police officer handling my case has repeatedly sought video evidence from the company, yet none has been provided. I was under the impression that the insurance I have been paying for through the company would encompass a broader range of coverage than has been communicated to me. Moreover, I would like to note that my original contract with this storage location was under its previous ownership. I am uncertain about the next steps, but I plan to pursue legal action due to their negligence. At the very least, I would like this formal complaint to serve as a notice to current and prospective customers of this business regarding the experience I, as a paying customer, have encountered and the issues that have arisen due to their negligence.

    Thank you for reaching out to us. We have been made aware of the situation and have been in constant contact with Mr. ******** We have offered him different solutions free of charge to him and he has declined them because he does not want to sign a new rental agreement with our company. He was able to file a self storage insurance claim for the incident and has already received money. We have continued to be in communication with him and are working to get the situation resolved.

    I am rejecting this response because:

    I have not accepted any type of insurance payment as was stated. I filed the insurance claim, but have yet to sign the document to accept the terms and receive the funds.

    Due to the ongoing police investigation, I am not willing to sign any additional leases or documents from the company releasing them of any liability of the previous burglaries that have been allowed to happen due to their negligence.  

    While they have been in contact, that is not the issue. It is their lack of action to secure my unit and rectify the situation. I was first notified of the compromise to my unit on **** ****. I was again notified on ******** *** of a burglary to my unit and irreverable damage to the door of my unit. Upon inspection of the door and locking mechanism, it was discovered that it had never been fixed from the original **** incident. Since ******** ***, my unit has been left wide open until just this last Friday, ******** **** when they replaced the door. During that time, my unit was burglarized multiple times, resulting in invaluable loss. My personal property was left exposed for 35 days, with nothing being done by the company to secure the unit I had a signed agreement for.
