We hired ** Homes to conduct two housing rebuild projects due to a fire. The contractor, *************************, started executing the project without any major issues. He seemed to move along well with the first house and was almost complete eight months after the fire. Then suddenly the county mandated that the frame and the roofs be completed on all townhouse units (four total) affected by the fire. This meant that **** needed to demo and frame the house where the fire originated and this is where the story turned. **** never submitted for a permit to frame the house and thus, we waiting three months for the permit to get approved. Then **** sent an unqualified framing team to work on the project. The part that saved us is that I actually hired a third-party roofer. The roofer, reviewed the framing several times and reported his severe concerns of poor workmanship and that the county would never approve the framing and thus, was concerned about installing the roof. It took **** an additional three months and to finally complete the framing. I started visiting the site more often and noticed that **** was never onsite and that his subcontractors were left unmanaged. While the framing issue was being resolved, **** never covered two holes in the roof in the original house that was almost complete. And one day, my wife and I walked inside to inspect the property and the entire ceiling on one side of the house collapsed due the rain that directly entered the property. Ultimately, **** would not repair the damages. Then back to the framing issue; **** had constantly asked for money for work not completed and we overpaid him about $12,500 to install plumbing, electric, and HVAC. Again, this was installed without his supervision and now after inspection, none of it passed and has cost $35k to correct.I'd highly recommend not working ** Homes and if so, ensure that the company provides a Certificate of Insurance with your name as an insured member.
