I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue regarding the recent billing for ****************************** services at my property.Due to my extended absence from the country for almost six months, there was no trash collection required at my property during June, July, and August 2025. After contacting the sanitation office to explain the situation, I was informed that the bill must be paid in full, regardless of the lack of service provided during that ********* a loyal customer of over 10 years, I kindly request for the adjustment of the billing statement to reflect the periods where no services were rendered. Despite my efforts to seek understanding and consideration from the office, the request for billing adjustment has been denied.Furthermore, I recently received an email notifying me of the cancellation of the service, yet the bill remains unchanged. I wish to clarify that I am unwilling to pay for a service that was not utilized.Therefore, I respectfully ask for the bill to be adjusted accordingly and for the ongoing services to be canceled effective immediately.Your prompt attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Starting 2 weeks ago, ***************** did not pick up my trash saying we had extra trash and we did not, it was all in the trash can and they did it again today as well. They need to come and pick up the trash to get shut down if they dont do their job.Initial Complaint

I am contact you today due to an extremely unsatisfactory encounter with your garbage collection service, specifically involving an incident this morning. Despite my anticipation of regular service, I found my trash uncollected, with the reason given being notably insufficient and unacceptable.The issue began with a broken garbage can, about which I had previously communicated, expecting a new can tomorrow. However, this morning, an employee who identified himself as "Yankee" outright refused to collect the trash, stating that the refuse, which was placed next to the can due to its broken state, would not be taken. This refusal was delivered in my presence, coupled with the advice to call the number on the truck, a directive that seemed dismissive and unhelpful.Compounding the problem was ******'s behavior during this interaction. Not only was his refusal to service the trash unjustified, but his conduct was unprofessional. He smoked near me throughout our interaction. His demeanor was not just discourteous but also lacked the basic respect and professionalism expected from service staff.I have consistently ensured my account is in good standing, with my bills paid promptly, under the assumption that such diligence would ensure reliable service. The simple expectation that my trash is collected, especially under slightly adjusted conditions due to a damaged container, should not be deemed unreasonable.I am requesting two immediate actions on your part: please send a crew to collect the unattended trash, as this service is not just expected but required. Secondly, I urge you to conduct an internal review of this incident, focusing on the behavior of "Yankee" and the policies that led to the refusal of service under these circumstances.I look forward to a swift response and resolution to this matter, ensuring that such incidents are not repeated in the future.Business Response

As I explained to *******************, Southern Sanitation has a contract with Gwinnett County and we are following the Gwinnett County policy. The policy states that we service the contents of one 95 gallon can of trash. The lid must be closed on the can and all trash must be in the can. The driver sent a picture of the can which had bags coming out of the top of the can and a bag on the ground. In the past, Southern Sanitation has been generous about getting a little extra however we are now following the policy and collecting what we are paid to collect. I explained that we offer additional can service for a fee or customers can pay for additional bags outside of the can. The broken can had nothing to do with the contents of the can. We explained the policy to ******************* and scheduled a complimentary return for collection the next day. The trash can was already scheduled for a swap out the next day. We emptied the trash on Tuesday however when the can delivery truck came to swap out the can, it was not available to swap it. The can had already been removed from the street. A picture was sent to our office of no can on the curb to exchange.
The route helper on the back of the truck is not a customer service representative. Customers should not approach the truck or curb as we are collecting trash to speak to the drivers or helpers. Any requests should be made by calling the office of Southern Sanitation and a customer service rep will gladly help you.

Southern Sanitation is the service arranged to collect trash in my neighborhood. As a resident with a family of 5, especially after the Christmas holiday it is a reasonable expectation that there will be more trash than the norm that one trashcan is not sufficient for. On multiple occasions now, I have witnessed Southern Sanitation workers only collect the trash in the bin and leave remaining trash bags scattered about instead of disposing of them. This is a service that I pay for and I expect the service to be completed as such. Leaving trash only creates more trash for future once per week visits and as a resident in a neighborhood where we pride ourselves on keeping the community nice, it is extremely disheartening and disappointing that a business who's main job is to collect trash is not fulfilling their responsibility.Initial Complaint

I am a residence of ****** County ********** and I use Southern Sanitation for my garbage and recycling collection service. For the past couple of years my trash and recycling were picked up every Tuesday as scheduled however for the past two months I started having issues with my service. At first it was my trash not being picked up. I would call the next business day and they would pick it up. As of 10/12/2022 they have not missed any pick *** for my trash however my recycling has been a major issue that I cant seem to get fixed. As I stated above my pickup day is every Tuesday there for, I place both cans out every Monday night. They will pick up my Garbage but not my recycling. I have called Southern Sanitation the next day and they would tell me to leave my can out and someone will pick it up. They never come to pick it up. I pay for a service that is not being provided to me. I have spoken with Supervisors, different employees, males and females and they all say the same thing Im sorry we have new workers, or I dont know why they missed it, we are short on staff, they will come tomorrow. But they never come!!!! This is very frustrating and Im looking for some help. A business should not be allowed to stay in business and charge people for a service that they are not providing.Business Response

The customers missed recycle collection was collected today on 10-13-22. We sent a truck to collect the missed recycle. I have notified the driver to radio the office weekly when the recycle is collected every Tuesday at this address. The charge for recycle collection is $2.00 per month. I will give the customer a credit of $4.00 for the past 2 months.Customer Answer
