My daughter and I took a vintage wedding dress to Your Fairy Threadmother at her shop on 1/18/24. My daughter's wedding is in December, but we wanted to find someone for alterations because we thought it would take a while. Also my daughter is in medical school and her coming for fittings was going to have to be taken into account. My daughter texted with Mrs. Jennifer M***** (the owner) in April because she was coming home. Mrs. M***** acknowledged that she knew the dress, but then never responded as to whether she needed to come in. In May, my daughter called Mrs. M***** because she was coming to town for a graduation, but Mrs. M***** did not respond at all. I was in Macon for a special event on 6/15/24 and rode by the shop, and it was completely cleaned out and there was a for rent sign outside the business. I called Mrs. M***** myself and left a message. When I got home and had calmed down some, I texted Mrs. M***** and she said that she had to close (on 6/1) because of ******* ******* and that she had the vintage wedding gown at her house. I asked why she hadn't let us know (especially in light of the recent attempts at communication from my daughter). She said she only had three dresses to complete and I asked her again, why she hadn't let her customers know (especially since she claimed she only had three dresses). I wanted to talk to my daughter about how to proceed, and we did not feel comfortable going to Mrs. M*****'s house for fittings. I asked Mrs. M***** if I could come to her house and pick up the dress. She said she would have her son meet me with the dress. I was absolutely terrified that we wouldn't get the dress back. Once I had the dress in my possession (and absolutely nothing had been done to the dress - nothing), I asked for a refund. She said I had broken the contract by picking up the dress, but I feel like she broke the contract when she moved and did not let her customers know.

Consulted with Your Fairy Threadmother on **** for her to complete alterations on my wedding dress. Payment was made same day for her to start on the alterations. She states she had a ******* issue and was not able to do any alterations to my dress. She has admitted to not being able to refund the $755 I paid for her services. She has not completed any alterations.

I dropped my wedding dress off with this seamstress in October of 2023. At this point, I paid seamstress in full for one alteration- having the back lowered in my wedding dress. Seamstress did not start work on my dress until 4 months later. She ruined the dress and it is completely different from what I had asked for or bought originally. When confronted with this, she declined to offer a refund or an apology and will not release my dress or veil to me without signing a waiver of damages leaving her with absolutely no liability for the unfinished product. When asked for dress to be fixed, she said she was unable to take the dress in or fix it due to the structure of the dress. I am now three weeks before my wedding. I have had to purchase a brand new dress, veil and pay for new alterations while my original $1400 dress and veil have been ruined and not relinquished to me. This business not only ruined my dress, but the memory that was made when taking my family to pick out the dress and has not even offered up an apology. Not only do I want my money back for alterations (almost $600), I want the money back that I paid for this dress originally ($850) along with my veil without having to sign a waiver that makes it to where she cannot be held accountable.
