If I was able to leave zero Stars I'd probably do that. It behooves me as to how the macon water authority feels justified in charging exaggerated prices for a necessary utility. People can't live without water so macon water authority takes the customers need for water and abuses it. I recently moved from one location to the next and I was told that a transfer wasn't possible. I was informed that I needed to stop my service at one address to start service at a new address. In doing that I received a ridiculous amount of charges. There's something called the water-based fee and a sewer base fee that totals between the two about $22. My final bill was for usage for a week. Which came out to be between water and sewage maybe $13 but this base fee for water and sewage Jack my bill up to what I would pay for the month which is close to $40. So for 7 days I pay $35 which is $5 short of what I would pay for the month. Transfering service then leaves me having to pay that base sewer and water fee again in one month. I don't know where the water authority comes up with these charges and the way that they charge it I feel like if I haven't used it for the whole entire month why do I need to pay for the whole month and then turn around and pay it for a whole month again at another location it's ripoff it's horrific and it's traumatizing. Water is a necessity we can't live without water so the water authority feels they can charge you whatever because they know how much you needed this should be some way that they can waive the base water and sewage fee if it's not a whole entire month because I don't have money to give to making water but I need water and I'm a struggling college student that has little or no money and I find myself paying these ridiculous fees just so macon water can make extra money I don't know what it is but I think it's it's something that should really be dealt with and I'm leaving this review because this needs attention.

In response to **. *******s statement regarding the fees
charged, when requesting a transfer or finalizing services, a final bill is
generated. All final bills include the base fee (water and sewer), along with
any consumption during the billing period. The base fees are a standard and are
applicable to service(s) at a location. Consumption is based on usage during
the billing period. Ms. *******s final bill days were nearly half the billing
period days. We understand the frustration with moving and the billing that
comes along with the process; however, Macon Water has not added additional
fees when honoring Ms. *******s request to transfer services. If assistance is
needed, whether providing an agency's information or contacting our office for
further explanation of the final bill, we are happy to offer help. If *** ******
needs additional assistance, give us a call at Macon Water Authority.

I have encountered several problems with MWA, the last being the payment of my bill by electronic check. Somehow when being submitted to the bank, an extra digit was applied to my account number resulting in a “bad” check. This resulted in my having to pay an extra $30. I know undoubtedly that I put the right numbers in. I have learned that MWA is going up on rates. I suppose until they do, they plan on applying extra tax on customers.

      Good morning,

Our staff has been in communication with **. ******** regarding
the returned item. **. ******** utilized the self-service option when
submitting her payment. Which means she inputted the information to process the
payment. Unfortunately, we are not responsible for the customer's manual entry
input. We could not waive the fee a 2nd time, as we had previously waived the
fee in August when an input entry by **. ******** occurred. Our team addressed
**. ********'s concerns empathetically and professionally when explaining the
return issue to her. We are more than willing to discuss alternate payment
options with **. ******** if she wishes to call our office.
