********************* agreed on remodeling work for our kitchen and other items around the house. The total is $8650. Prior to start date he requested I pay $4500. I did so. He commenced on November 14th. Part of the work was to install new granite counter tops. On November 17th he contacted me and requested more money for the granite sub-contractor. I paid him $2100. Soon after ****** began making one excuse after the other. He was requesting that I pay him more money because a family member died. Then he needed help with something else. On November 22, he said the granite subcontractor notified him that the granite broke and there would be further delay with the granite. ****** sent me a picture of the broken granite. A quick search on ****** came up with the exact same picture. That is when I finally realized ****** had been lying about a granite subcontractor. At that stage ****** had not completed 50% of the job but have 80% payments. On November 22, upon confirming the updated cost for the granite and countertop work was $3700, I informed ****** that we no longer wanted to have the countertop and granite work done because either he was not telling the truth or the granite guy was not. I asked for the granite guys number several times and was not given his contact information. At that time I was willing for ****** to keep the rest of the money and refund me $1700 the difference between what ****** owed me and why I had not paid.Unfortunately since then the only thing ****** has been paint and return my cabinets, and he has done the basement trim work from the invoice. Out of the $6600 we have paid ******, per the invoice he has completed $2500 worth of work (thats me being generous). The last time ****** came to the house was on November 27. ****** has not come to our house to finish anything or refunded our money. He keeps giving excuse after excuse. I am requesting that he refund. $4100, or finish the job (minute countertop and granite work) and refund $1700.
