I contracted Georgia Classic Pool to build a pool on my residential property in early 2022. They started digging in October 2022. The initial expectation for completion was January/February 2023. Due to an abundance of delays and completely disappearing during April 2023 they did not complete the project until a long time later. They collected full payment in May 2023 after which they finished the pool portion of the project, although with an abundance of issues that took months to fix. They then disappeared for 6+ months before finishing landscaping they had been paid for. They are now unable to get a certificate of occupancy. This project has been open for 23 months since digging a hole in my yard, and they refuse to close it out.

      Good Afternoon,

The pool construction took approximately 6 months, from excavation to the point where the homeowners could swim. However, closing the project with the city has taken longer than expected due to delays with inspections, arborist requirements, and slow responses from the city. We take full responsibility, as it was our duty to ensure the project was properly closed out. These issues were purely administrative and did not impact the homeowner's ability to use the pool. We are now very close to finalizing everything, with just some paperwork pending between the engineer and the city. We follow up regularly, though the citys responses have been inconsistent, but we expect resolution soon.

      Thank You.

I am rejecting this response because:

Initial application for the pool permit took place in February 2022. Dig day took place in October 2022. Payment was requested and completed in May 2023.

Sod was included in the fees paid off in early 2023 but was not provided until summer 2024. The side of our yard remained raw dirt, an eyesore for ourselves and our neighbors for almost two years. *** called for the final city inspection in June 2024. Why the delay? Why did this take so long? The inspection failed because they had the fence gate installed wrong. GCP finished the gate for the pool in August 2024 (although it now has open holes which will probably rust due to their mistake) as that was needed to obtain the certificate of occupancy. The ** was applied for in September 2024. It is now October 2024 and no certificate of occupancy. The only thing accurate about the pool taking 6 months to complete is that is probably the number of months out of the past 25 since dig day that they have actually completed work to get this project done.

Other pool companies have applied for permits, built pools, and received **s in half the time we have been dealing with GCP which indicates to me the problem is not the city but the pool company. There is very poor project management on behalf of Georgia Classic Pool which is why this project is still open.

      Sincerely,

      **** ********

      Good afternoon,

***** forwarded this message and asked me to reply. This complaint has been addressed. Their project has been closed out with the city. I have attached a copy of the Certificate of Completion issued from the city. We did send a copy of this to the homeowner for their records as well.

Please let me know if this closes out this complaint.

      Thank you,
