On March 11 2024, I went to Big Dan’s Carwash in Toccoa Georgia to clean my truck. At the payment gates, an employee came over to perform the wash selection screen interaction for me. Then I move to approach the carwash entrance where a second employee guided me into the lane and then sprayed the front of the vehicle with water.
As the rollers began to push my truck into the wash, the system malfunctioned and stopped, and the truck rolled backwards. I was not touching the wheel or brakes. The system stopped and the truck rolled backward 3 or 4 times before finally the truck continued through the wash. The car wash completed, and I exited the tunnel and drove to the vacuums.
Upon inspection, I found the carwash had ripped lights off my front bumper. At this time, I asked an employee to come over and look at the damage at which time he asked Tanner to come over to help. Tanner is the local owner of the carwash.
Tanner looked at the front of the truck, acknowledged the damage, and stated, “If the employee had been doing their job, you would have not been allowed into the carwash”. This statement is a statement of negligence of either the employees not preforming their duties or poor training.
4 days later, I called for status of the claim, Tanner stated there is no liability on the carwash and would not be offering any resolution.
My issue with this outcome is:
    1. Two employees actively assisted with my trucks payment and entrance into the carwash.
    2. Tanner accepted responsibility, volunteering the expectations of the employees as vehicles enter the carwash.
    3. The equipment clearly malfunctioned and didn’t shutdown when the vehicle progress through the tunnel was stopped and restarted multiple times.
This was not the first automated carwash my truck had been through. I have used Bulldog Carwash more times that I can count without any issue and always satisfied with the wash results.
If you care about your vehicle, DON’T TAKE IT THROUGH BIG DAN’S.
