PATIENT ABANDONMENT I was a patient of ******************************* for two year (10/2020 - 9/2022), all online/ remote. She treated me for Anxiety and Depression and late 2021 I was diagnosed with PTSD by a different provider (a psychiatrist). I was in a contentious lawsuit against a former employer for discrimination during the time of treatment. Because of this McTavous abruptly abandoned me without even 24hr notice or giving me time to find new care, citing that she was being "harassed" by the defendant's attorneys. I told her that my counsel forbid me from disclosing information because it was an ongoing investigation and I apologized for what she had gone through and what the defendant's attorneys had done. On 9/15/2022 ******** canceled a same day appointment, citing a dental appointment (something you usually know about in advance). The following week I began our session per usual before she interrupted me saying "I am very disappointed in you" referring to the defendant's attorneys. She spoke for about ten minutes regarding her disappointment and that she would no longer care for me before abruptly leaving the call. I sat in silence before having a panic attack my Service Dog alerted me to. It took several hours of my service dog tasking before my breath returned to normal and at least a week to recover fully. Before McTavous abandoned me, I cried and/or broke down regularly in our sessions stating suicidal ideations/ not wanting to exist anymore. I told her how I was regularly experiencing flash backs of my molestation and **** and having a hard time leaving the house. To leave a patient in this condition without a transition plan was grossly IRRESPONSIBLE and UNETHICAL.
