Champion estate sale company never finalized the accounting of money made on the estate sale and therefore never paid me the amount owed to me per the contract. They did good work selling the estate items and cleaning up, but didn't follow through with full payment to me or an accounting of money made on the sale (which waa to be split per a signed contract agreement).

    RE: Complaint 713769214C81C
    BBB Rep,
We did in fact conduct as estate sale for ****** ******** at ****************************************************************  The Sale was sone on 2//17/23 to 2/20/23. The customer had moved out of the rental house and relocated out of state I believe.  She had issues with her landlord because she discovered black mold in the house and it was making her sick. I point out this fact because she requested that we after the Estate Sale we remove all of the unsold items and donate of consign them and clean the house afterwards so she could potentially get her deposit back.
Normally we will take the cost of any cleanout from the proceeds before we disperse any funds but Mrs. ******** requested some funds asap so we send her $1000.00 to help. After the cost of the cleanout was completed the balance left is -$7.72.  I am attaching the report that we have send 3 times.  We also documented the cleanout and have photos of the dumpsters filled up and the mold we had to work around. I can post them if necessary.

There is one item I will look into. The Rooms To Go bedroom set was consigned and potentially sold. I will verify it wasnt donated ( After 90 days)  any send any balance due for it. ....Once the complaint is removed.

We contracted with Champion to sell all of the furnishings and houshold items with a few exceptions in Feb '23. The house was located at ******************* and over 6000 sf. The initial open house events generated about $9000k in sales (50%/50% split) and the remainign items were placed in consigment stores for sale (mostly the nicer furniture and rugs). ********************* the owner, told us it would take some time to sell these items through consigment. To date, we have only received $1000 for a large houseful of furnitire, oriental rugs, silver service etc. After answering my follow up calls and emails, he has totally gone dark and we are out the money and don't know where are remaining pieces are or if they have sold and he simply. pocketed the money. Apparently this has happened to others based on what I've read online. Appreciate any help you can provide!

    *****,

Unfortunately, some of what **************** says is true although the total amounts differ from out records ($6215.00) also we have sent 2 payments of $1000 and will continue pay the balance off.  We did have a contract sell **************** household items. Much of the furniture is out of fashion some was damaged and needed to be cleaned or repaired. The Persian rug had a hole in it and was an odd size that no one wanted. After trying for months we were not able to sell the items for the amount that he wanted. We tried several consignments stores which meant moving the furniture. In the end we ended up renting a storage unit. We did contact *************** and let him know we were storing the unsold items and  he should make arrangement to pick it up. He agreed to but we didnt hear from him for 7 months. The total we spent storing and moving the furniture was $5130.00.

We recently gave him access to the storage unit where the unsold items are and he said he planned to pick them up.

**************** has been patient and has the right to be upset. We had assured him we would be able to sell his items and yet we were unable to.  We did not set out for this to happen or make a profit and pockets his money but we do owe him a balance and will pay that debt.

On March 26,2024 ********************* of Champion Estate Sales met with me at my mother's house in ********, **. He came to ***** items of my mother's house to have an estate sale. He seemed to be very helpful and explained what he would do to insure a successful sale of the entire house full of furniture and household items. He stated that he would provide us with a list of items to be sold and would advertise on his website. I never got a list of items but did see the ad on his website. I live out of state and could not be there for the sale. On April, 6,7,2024 and again on April 12,13,14, 2024 he conducted the sale. He did communicate several times about certain items and seemed to be pleased with the progress of the sale. He stated in the initial meeting that he would clear the house of any items left and take them to his resale shop and again give us a detailed list of such items. I never received that list and had to rely on our real estate sales representative to encourage him to clear the house out. Finally after everything was removed the new carpet was very dirty and had to be professionally cleaned at our expense and he had assured us that the carpet would be protected. I have sent emails, texts, phone calls to ********************* and to no avail about the monies that were collected. I finally received an email on May 2,2024 with a partial list of items sold and monies collected. After two weekend sales of a 3 bedroom, living room and kitchen house and a garage full of tools he states that we would be owed $184.65 after expenses. I still have not received any money or been contacted by ********************* or anyone from his company. I have reached out to him numerous times to no avail. I feel that my 85 year old mother and myself were taken advantage of and would like to at least talk to ********************* about the sale. Be aware of this company if you are looking for an Estate ************ in the ******* area.

Unfortunately, we occasionally have problems when there are siblings or multiple heirs helping with the sale. We did try our best to set the appropriate expectations but Im not sure Cerise read our agreement and I am sure she is not the owner/executor.

We have a contract to do an estate sale for ***************************************.  She had a small house that she was trying to get ready to list for sale. Most of the desirable items were removed by heirs and they had also packed up most everything else.  The first several days we unpacked boxes of items that had been stored to add the items to then sale. We made it clear that they would be charged for this.   We paid for advertising and held the estate sale on April 6th and 7th.When there was still a lot left so we offered to hold the sale again on the 12th and 13th.  It was marginally successfully but by the end of the second sale everything had been picked through.  The customer and realtor asked us to clean out the house. This is not part of our free services. It is clearly stated in the contract ************** services) We had to rent 2 dumpsters and pay dump fees on other loads. We also had to bring in extra contract labor in to help to get the house ready in time. We were constantly getting pushed by the realtor to finish faster. Any item left what we went to ******** and what they wouldnt take went to the dump. There were no items taken to a consignor. We sent pictures but nothing was accepted.

All of the Estate Sales summaries were sent to the email address on the contract after the second sale ended. The outstanding balance has been paid. Normally we will send it on the Monday following the sale but since we had a second sale and we had to wait to receive invoices on expenses we incurred.  ***** was out of the office a few days due to illness and could not take calls.

The customer was contacted and given a verbal update after the first sale and before the second. Their main concern seemed to be getting the house empty and clean. We did put rugs over the ****** in 80% of the area to prevent people tracking dirt in.

I am sorry the sale didnt go as they hoped. We did work very hard to set everything up and stayed there several nights until 10 pm cleaning it out at the end.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
