My order was placed with this company in October of 2023 with a deposit. After fourteen months of ghosting and excuses I still have no stone for my parents. I do not recommend Oglethorpe Marble and Granite.

At the time that this review was submitted part of this order was completed. The family monument was also ready to go when the weather (************) came in and stopped production for 8 working days. The order will be completed with the week and installed. Conversation with the customer have been on going.

Ghosted by Oglethorpe Marble and Granite Co. I am not one to write a bad review but this company has taken my money, represented it was crafting a headstone for my parents and after nine months has not provided the headstone, has not obtained a permit to place the headstone, and will not return my calls or e-mails.I buried my parents' ashes in early February 2022. I reached out to Oglethorpe Marble and Granite, before the burial, about creating a headstone for my parents. The owner of Oglethorpe Marble and Granite indicated her company could do that. As of mid-March we had a design and Oglethorpe indicated the material for the headstone had to be ordered. Oglethorpe took my payment in full in April. On June 13, 2022, the owner represented that the headstone material was being "shaped" and would be cut as soon as it was shaped. Since that time, notwithstanding multiple attempts to contact Oglethorpe Marble and Granite, no response has been received. On December 9, 2022 it was discovered that Oglethorpe Marble and Granite had not obtained a permit to place the headstone from the cemetery where the burial occurred. My experience with this company is similar to that of at least one other customer in terms of the delay in production of granite. In my case, Oglethorpe's owner represented to me that the material was being shaped and would be cut six months ago. While there may be production delays, there is absolutely no excuse to stonewall and ghost customers. Do not use this company. At best, Oglethorpe Marble and Granite has been negligent regarding this order and at worst, fraudulent. It is hard enough to lose loved ones and to have to bury them without having to deal with a monument company which takes your monument order, takes your money, promises delivery and then refuses to communicate with you.

While discussion with **************** began in Feb. the final size was not approved until April 11 2022 and the required deposit was not received until later that month. This is not a standard stone and therefore requires the material being pulled from the production schedule and hand cut. Special cut are not put on order until the deposit is received. When we received the material in early fall it was put in line to have the inscription cut. As I had told **************** we would make every effort in our power to place the marker in the cemetery before Christmas. I spoke with him in Dec and again told him that the setting of the marker would be before Christmas. While we verify lot ownership when the order is placed, no permit is issued until the date it is placed in the cemetery. That is the standard. I have by now means ghosted ****************. While I have not in the past recorded the number of times I have called and had no answer, we are working the change that in the future and each call answered or not will be recorded. In a world of instant gratification it is forgotten that the monument industry is thousands of years old but the skills of creating lasting memorials has advanced very little. And to this day remains a craftsman industry. Being a small worldwide industry the supply change is very limited. In this country alone there are only one *** supplier of stencil needed to cut stone and one supplier of the paint used to properly color letters. Again *********************** was placed in the cemetery Dec 21 2022
