I engaged legal services with attorney **** Williams with the expectation of receiving competent and diligent representation. Unfortunately, I find myself in the position of having paid over $4800 in legal fees without the case progressing to a courtroom appearance, and, to my surprise, I received notice of being dropped as a client without a clear explanation for this decision. I hired this attorney for a civil matter back in March of this year and have paid almost $5000 with no results. While I understand that legal matters can be complex, the lack of communication regarding the reasons for terminating our attorney-client relationship has left me feeling unsupported and confused. I would appreciate a detailed explanation of the circumstances leading to this decision and a partial reimbursement for lack of service.

    Business Response

    Dear ****************,

We regret to hear about your dissatisfaction and take your concerns seriously, as client satisfaction is a cornerstone of our practice at the Law Office of **** Williams, LLC.

Upon reviewing your case, and its history with our firm, it is essential to note that the progression to a final resolution to your case has been significantly hindered by the opposing party's actions, which have been conducted in bad faith and are beyond our control. These complications and the resultant delays have been communicated to you at every stage of the process. Regarding your expressed concerns regarding appearing in court, I kindly remind you that there have been numerous attorney appearances made with you being present, including mediation, and virtual hearings that we attended together.

Regarding the decision to terminate our attorney-client relationship, this step was not taken lightly. As detailed in our correspondence on November 8, 2023, several factors contributed to this outcome. Despite repeated attempts to address the financial responsibilities and nature of communication, there was a consistent disregard for invoices and notices, as well as a pattern of communication that became adversarial, rather than collaborative. Our firm values a working relationship based on mutual respect and teamwork, which, unfortunately, was compromised.

Additionally, we have endeavored to assist you additionally by applying a 25% discounted rate, waiving fees, and providing pro **** work to ease the financial burden and facilitate a more satisfactory experience. These efforts were a testament to our commitment to not just satisfying but exceeding ALL of our clients' expectations.

In response to the concerns raised about communication, you have, and have made use of the multiple means of contacting our office, and your attorney directly, and were always responded to in a timely manner.  Our firm has recently implemented bi-weekly status updates to enhance our service and ensure our clients are well-informed. We are continuously refining our practices to better serve our clients and value the feedback you've provided.

While we empathize with your frustrations regarding the length of time it has taken to make the progress that has been made in your legal matter, the inherent complexities of the judicial system and litigation in general, it is clear that the professional relationship has been strained to a point where it is no longer beneficial to either party. We believe that the decision to withdraw is in the best interests of you and your family, as well as our firm.

We wish you and your family the best moving forward.

    Sincerely,
    **** Williams, Esq.

I am rejecting this response because: The lawyer's response does not match the events that took place. This attorney billed me unnecessarily for legal drafts for two different courts in two different Countys and offered a discount on work that should have never been performed. There are legal proceedings that are available for parties that make it had to find. This attorney assured me this wasn't an issue and continued to take my money for frivolous charges and we never stepped foot into a courtroom. He made another request for additional funds and as soon as that was paid, he dropped me.

    Sincerely,

We have delivered exceptional service to ****************. Numerous courtesies, credits, and negotiations on behalf of our firm. **************** mentioned in his Complaint and Refusal that he is frustrated due to what has admittedly been a lengthy, and subsequently a costly legal process. Unfortunately, it is the actions of the opposing party that he is litigating against who has significantly lengthened this process, not this firm.

**************** has also requested a partial refund; however, **************** has been billed at a reduced hourly rate for legal fees and has never abided by the terms of the Engagement Agreement executed in April 2023. As mentioned previously, **************** has been afforded multiple curtseys and discounts applied in an effort to work with him regarding his legal fees.  Regardless of that *********************** has been continuously litigious, difficult to work with, and has lashed out each time he receives an invoice.  Accordingly, no refund will be issued to ****************,

Unfortunately, **************** has proven to be a cantankerous, litigious, *****, frustrating, and problematic client, who will not be satisfied. It is in the best interest of all involved that we remove ourselves from representing him, and the court has granted an order allowing us to withdraw. **************** had 10 days from the receipt of our request to withdraw with which to object to our withdrawal, yet he did not. He has chosen to assert his false allegations against our firm and undoubtedly will continue as long as he's allowed to.

In summation, no, there will be no refund, partial or otherwise, and no, this firm has decided it prudent not to represent **************** further in his matter.
