    I signed my two girls up for tutoring at the beginning of October. My expectations were to help them catch up in Math and bolster their reading comprehension. We attended an orientation workshop for parent to get more information and also for the kids to take an exam to see where they were academically. Results were given and my expectations were confirmed with a conversation with the owner. The kids started October the 10th 2022. Eight weeks went by and I started looking at the practice guides they were giving the kids. My girls are 12 and 9, the practice guides were at best kindergarten material. Ex: 1+1, 1+2, 1+3 and so on several pages long. I was astonished so the next tutoring session we asked one of the teenagers working if he could contact the owner for a conversation. I explained I didn't understand why the girls were getting such simple material to study and I asked if they helped with homework. I was told everyone starts their regardless of their test results and no they do not provide homework help. I explained to him, that was not my understanding and that isn't what I was looking for regarding tutoring. He said he understood and we agreed November would be the girls last month. The total monthly rate for both girls was $580 a month. I paid $580 on October 12th via auto draft set up by this Kumon location. And the other payment came out November 3rd. Novembers payment was late by 3days and i was charged a $30 fee. I understood and paid it on the 3rd of November as well. It was understood that they wouldn't return after November. And I never heard from them again, I signed my girls up for a different tutoring service that met my expectations. Fast forward to January 2023 I pulled my credit report because we wanted to make a big purchase and I noticed I had a collection for $10 from Payliance and late payment from Kumon I called both companies. The Kumon location owner called back to pay she wasn't able to help it was corporate. The debt collector stated it was a late fee from November. i asked why wasn't I contacted prior to placing it on my report, they stated it wasn't their policy to call me. I have tried several time to get this removed with no resolve. As a consumer I feel punished for cancelling their services with vindictive retaliation to my credit report.
