I had a standard oil change done on my 2018 F150. Take 5 overfilled the oil which triggered my oil pressure sensor to go off and I confirmed oil was overfilled. I returned to Take 5 who then confirmed it was overfilled and completed another oil change,. but still struggled at finding the proper level. On my next drive the oil pressure sensor was still triggering and it was turning my turbos off renduring the truck uncapable of doing what I need the truck to do. I confirmed overfilling the engine with oil can damage the oil pressure sensor, and I was hoping that was all that had been done. Take 5 Oil sent me to a specific 3rd party service location called ****************. Communication between ***** and myself and Take 5 was poor. Apparently there was zero communication between ***** and Take 5. **************** confirmed it was the oil pressure sensor that had failed and replaced the sensor. No mention of price was ever discussed and I assumed this was because the repair was approved by Take 5 Oil.Upon pick up of my truck I discovered ***** Automotive had not been in contact with Take 5 at all. ***** called Take 5 while I was waiting to pick up my truck and Take 5 refused to cover the bill, despite the oil pressure sensor failed because they overfilled the engine with oil. Luckily, it was only a sensor and not something more major.Take 5 stiffed me with a bill for $289.93. I had to return to Take 5 once to remove excess oil and I had to go to ***** Automotive twice and was without a truck for almost a week. All because Take 5 Oil overfilled my truck.I was okay with chaulking this up to mistakes happen, but the lack of care and response to the resulting issue is appalling. In the scheme of things $289.93 is nothing and Take 5 could have easily moved past thins blunder, now I want to make sure as many other people do not have the same issue as I did. I would like my $289.93 back, which doesn't even include my time and inconvience.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

    I have spoken ( again) with J & L automotive who confirmed:

That this vehicle had preexisting conditions (valve cover gasket leaks being one of them) , and the issue in question was not due to our service (oil sending unit).

They presented to customer who appoved work to be completed WITHOUT contacting us, J & L reiterated issue was not due to our service

When sending vehicle to them ( J & L Auto) we approved ONLY diagnostic.

Thank you again and have a wonderful afternoon

I am rejecting this response because my truck did not have a prexsisting condition. The check engine light had never come on before being overfilled with oil. It wasn't until the oil pressure sensor registered to high of oil pressure that I had any issues.  This resulted in the computer putting my truck into limp mode and disconnecting the turbos. This has never happened before.

Overfilling engine oil can indirectly damage an oil pressure sensor by creating excessive pressure within the engine, which can strain seals and gaskets around the sensor, potentially causing leaks or malfunctions in its operation, leading to inaccurate oil pressure readings and triggering the oil pressure warning light.

When you overfill the engine, the excess oil creates more pressure within the crankcase as the crankshaft rotates through it, which can put strain on seals and gaskets near the oil pressure sensor. Luckily, the engine seems to be fine other than the sensor failure.

I was sent specifically to J & L Automotive and assumed that shop and Take 5 Oil were in communication with each other.  J & L Automotive never told me a price for anything. They only confirmed it was the sensor, which again led me to believe Take 5 was in the loop.

When I went to pick up the truck, I found out J & L hadn't been in contact with Take 5 at all. They then called Take 5 while I was there and Take 5 refused to accept responsibility for the failure of the sensor wish occured immediatly following overfilling the truck with oil, which did cause the excess oil pressure light to go off and this was confirmed by Take 5.

I'm blown away that for $289.93 Take 5 Oil refuses to accept the fact that their accidental overfill of oil somehow had nothing to do with the oil pressure sensor immediately failing. It could have been much worse if I didn't notice the oil had been overfilled and kept driving it. Instead of just asking for a reimbursment of $289.93, Take 5 Oil could have been responsible for an entire engine replacement.

I'd get it if my alternator failed after overfilling my truck with oil because the two have nothing to do with each other, but literally the sensor responsible for reading the oil pressure failed immediatly after overfilling the truck. That is one heck of a coincidence if they are not connected.

    Sincerely,

    **** ******

On Sept 18th, I got an oil change, coolant flush and replacement, wiper blades and a cabin filter replacement from Take 5 Oil Change. My reciept says we finished at 10:22am. From there I went home and my vehicle sat in my driveway until 5pm until my wife, daughter and I left our home in ******, ** en route to **************** in ******** for a youth softball game. We made one stop in **********, ** to pick up a teamate at approx 5:30pm. 3 miles from our home, we got an engine too hot warning. We slowed down a little and the temp went down some. We continued for maybe another ***** seconds and the warning appeared again. We pulled over next to a turn lane on ************************* in between ******* and *******I checked the oil and it seemed low. My wife called AAA and I called Take 5. The car was towed to our house. Upon returning home, my wife took a pic of a fluid we in front of our driveway as we left our house. Take 5 sent a tech to the house the next morning. He did an inspection and after consulting with his district manager (DM), they came to the conclusion they did nothing wrong and the ** would call me soon. I even offered to pay them back if they had the car inspected and it was proven they did nothing wrong. The tech also add anothe 5 quarts of oil to my car the day after my oil change. No one ever called back. On Sept 20th, i took the vehicle to a mechanic, **** ********* Garage. They discovered the car had zero coolant in the engine and radiator and also believe that by overheating the car, it made the water pump and thermostat fail and have to be replaced. I called Take 5 the same day and spoke to the store manager, ****. I sent him the invoice from **** ********* and he said he would speak to his DM. **** called me back the same evening and said due to their processes, paperwork and video (i have not been shown the video) they did nothing wrong and I am on my own to fix my car. I am seeking $315 and the $801 reimbursement for both invoices.
