    they have been charging me for almost a year and will not let me cancel. talked to the store and they say go to a web site and it always gives you a error and wont let you cancel.

    I cancelled by membership with Max Fitness on ****** 2, 2022. It required 30 days written notice which would put my final cancellation on ********* 1, 2022. This meant that even though it was only one day, I would still owe the full $19.95 for that month. I was fine with that because it was my fault for not cancelling earlier. I was recently auto charged a late fee if $15.00. I inquired as to why and was told that they tried to run my card and it came back that the card was inactive. The card was definitely active because I made several purchases with the card on the days she said they tried to run it. This seemed odd since this would be the last payment they received. I was never notified that my payment failed or asked to provide a different form of payment. I was just hit with an automatic late charge, which by the way was charged to the same card they said was inactive. I called them this morning (9/22/2022) and low and behold the card was not inactive and the transaction went through just fine. They refunded the $15.00 and charged the $19.95 so my business with Max Fitness is done.
    I am sure that this has probably happened to others perhaps several times without their knowledge. I just want them to know this is a bad business practice and that there is a disconnect between the company and their billing company. I would also like to warn others to be on the lookout for fraudulent or excessive charges from Max Fitness.
