Are you looking for a gym with clean facilities and new equipment? Spencer Health and Fitness is likely not the gym for you. Much of the weight equipment is in disrepair and seems to have come over in the ****s. Dust bunnies abound in the workout areas. Upon opening a locker, I found cockroaches inside the locker waiting to board my belongings to hitchhike to a new destination. Spencer Health and Fitness seems to have different rules depending on who you are. Some members are allowed to "hold" machines by placing towels or other personal objects on them while they work out elsewhere. When I mentioned this to the manager of Spencer Health and Fitness, she told me it's okay to do it if it isn't busy. I wondered If you have to "hold" a machine, isn't it busy? The Spencer Health and Fitness staff can be dismissive and consumed with their phones when you come to the desk unless you are part of the "inner click group" that seems to exist. Bring a large towel to drape over the areas you intend to contact with. Spencer Health and Fitness provides spray bottles with community towels that were once white now grey. Make sure to use the paper towels. Sitting on equipment directly often will leave an odor in your clothes smelling of corn chips and bad body odor. The smell is fitting since Spencer Health and Fitness has no air conditioning and some members work out without a shirt to ease the heat. Some members of Spencer Health and Fitness stretch by placing their shoes on the equipment and handles. A thought came to mind when I saw this occur of a time I'd come into Spencer Health and Fitness and had to step over what I believe was excrement in the front doorway that a previous person had waffled on the way in.
