  I contacted Hawaii Disability Legal Services, LLLC on June 8, 2023 expressing that I was seeking legal services for a rare congenital vascular condition that has left me disabled. I expressed that there is a due date for documents and was told by Hawaii Disability Legal Services, LLLC that they could work within the due date, since I immediately told them upon receipt of my dated letter. On June 9, 2023 I received a link to sign a document, however my name was incorrect on that document. I expressed this and was told to just sign the document and it can be adjusted later. I expressed my discomfort around misinformation, and eventually they sent an amended document for me to sign. Thereafter I never heard back from Hawaii Disability Legal Services, LLLC. Despite my various calls expressing the importance of the due date that was given to me to submit paperwork, I was told that they would get back to me, and so I waited. Having given them my information, I was content with giving them the benefit of the doubt that they would handle my information and time with care. I called to confirm, and ultimately kept being told they'd get back to me. That due date was never reached and I am still in the dark about the status of my case and information. I became concerned because the document that I signed gave them confidential information about my complete identity including social security number. To date, no one has expressed what they utilized my personal and sensitive information for, and has not returned any of my communications. I feel this is an issue of ineffective practices, lack of honest communication, mishandling of private/ personal/ confidential information, and their disregard for time sensitivity. I called today November 9, ********************************************************** how my information was used or the status of my case, so I am submitting this complaint as this appears fraudulent.

  I had planned to review your case, to see if it was something I could handle for you, but the last correspondence I have said you were seeking a different attorney.  It sounds like your intentions or desired result may have been different.

  In any case, the information you relayed to us and the document you signed so that I could review your case was and is kept confidential. I can destroy all of this information, if that is what you would prefer.

  I am rejecting this response because:

  In the response from Hawaii Disability Legal Services LLLC, they state that the last communication received left them with the understanding that I would find another attorney. My previous communications to Hawaii Disability Legal Services LLLC was requesting that I be updated with the status of my case. I had provided confidential information, was told that the deadline could be reached, and never heard back. I reached out again asking if they were not taking my case to please let me know, that way I could be prepared to look for another attorney. I did not want multiple attorneys working on a singe case or having access to personal information without first knowing the intentions of the attorney at Hawaii Disability Legal Services LLLC that had already received my sensitive information. I was told that they would get back to me, but I never heard back, and due to this my case missed the appeal date. I also remained patient as I know that disability lawyers tend to handle the logistics of fillings and that these things can take time before receiving communications. But nothing was ever done or communicated. 

  After my complaint was filed, Hawaii Disability Legal Services LLLC reached out to me and stated that they could destroy my previous information. They also stated that if I could trust them and give them the chance to still work on my case, that they would reach out about my appeal. Contingent on my previous case being open or closed, they (being Hawaii Disability Legal Services LLLC), would begin a new claim for me. They also sent me additional documents to sign, and provided a letter for other entities stating that I have a case open to better support me in my fight for disability benefits. 

  I have had 2 telephone conversations with Hawaii Disability Legal Services LLLC and 2 email communications with them since my report was filed with the BBB. I am satisfied with their actions and offers personally made to me, however, I was not satisfied with their response made through BBB, because it implied that I had already made plans to find another attorney, which was not true, and because it only offered that my documents be destroyed, but not sent copies, and not offering help or solutions to move forward. 

  The help they offered since does however suffice and I wanted it to be properly noted here.
