      Business Response

      Date: 12/01/2022

************** [*****} came into our Exhaust Systems Hawaii [ESH] ******* facility on 11/23/22 and met with the shop manager *****. ***** stated that he was experiencing some exhaust leaks at the ****** and V-Band connections or to that immediate area near the catalytic converters. ***** asked ***** if we could inspect His Lowered Chrysler 300 on the car lift and ***** agreed. Once on the lift, ***** directed the exhaust leaks to the existing ****** connections on both sides. ***** did his troubleshooting and related that both passenger and driver side flanges were leaking exhaust pressure, possibly to normal wear and from impact from objects being ran over since his vehicle is lowered and modified well below the stand ground clearance not recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. The clearance appeared to be about 3 inches from the ground to the catalytic converter units. ***** concurred that this may have caused such leaks and has been leaking for the past months. ***** asked ***** if he could modify this exhaust by cutting off the cat-side flanges and simply placing a pipe in place to create more ground clearance. ***** offered his professional expert advice and said he does not recommend using the existing flanges as they were already damaged and any work that would utilize these flanges would still leak. ***** also gave ***** other repair options to repair the leaks, however ***** wanted to get the work done immediately and agreed to using the damaged and already leaking flanges from the old parts. ***** asked ***** if he wanted to take this chance and ***** concurred. The work was completed for a total parts and labor cost of $300.00.

2 days after ***** returned to ESH and asked if we could inspect the vehicle for the same issue with the exhaust leak. ** and ***** inspected the parts and the work performed and it is still leaking from the old flanges. This due to installing used flanges. ***** provided new V-Bands on both sides and asked if we could replace them in hopes it would resolve the leaks. ***** responded that it will highly unlikely solve the leaks because the leaks are coming from the already warped and damaged flanges that ***** asked to reuse, this after ***** explained and did not recommend this process.

************** contacted me on 11/30/2022 and explained his version of what happened. I was apprised by both Jr. and ********************* to my conversation with ***** and it appears ***** has left out a lot of details in his complaint that are very crucial to the work. 1st, ***** statement of that he was told we can fix the leak. ***** specifically recommended that he does not proceed with the repair method. ***** also confirmed that he was told this by ***** upon his return to our chop when we replaced the clamps for *****. 2nd, ***** does not mention in his claim that the vehicle sustained damages to the exhaust or leaks. This was confirmed and explained to ***** on first day he wanted an exhaust inspection. This is why ***** came to our shop to have the existing leak checked out. 3rd, ***** claims that there would be a higher cost to repair the leaks. What ***** fails to state is that ***** offered to replace the flanges with new ones to assure there are no leaks however ***** wanted the work done immediately and did not want to wait for the correct parts to arrive via special order. The "cost more" statement is true because this is the correct repair method to resolve such leaks of this type specifically.

I explained to ***** that he himself made the choice to move with this repair method knowingly and willingly regardless of the outcome. ***** asked us to perform this method and was willing to pay and take this chance. Based on these reasons, I related that we could not refund the $150 he requested for new flanges. In his BBB claim, he is now requesting a full refund for his decision regardless of our professional recommendation.

I am rejecting this response because: the shop is not telling the truth and I had my exhaust done with them they did everything under my car so nothing was the fault of me or prior work because they did it all. I asked for 150 to be minimized the payment I spent more money on gas and new parts that they damaged due to prior installation now I have went to a new shop and they did a check and showed proof that the prior shop damaged my product that costed 100$ and also had to buy another of the same product. Also the company lied and said I was told at my own precautions but that again is a lie I was told that I would have to pay extra my response was that Im ok with it as long as it is done right. The manager told me he has voice audio so if that is the case and he please submit the full audio of the interaction because I know the truth and he does also.

      Sincerely,
