Party of 5 visited this restaurant on July 8, 2022. Me (46), My Mother (70) Son (22) Son (20) and niece (18). We waited about hour and half to be seated. Was going to end our vacation with a nice restaurant. My son, the 22 year old, ordered an alcoholic drink. They asked for his ID, which he willingly provided. Then a gentleman came to speak to him. Told him his ID was fake and that we ALL would have to leave the restaurant. MY SON IS 22!! Not sure if the company's Id checker was wrong, or maybe it is not compatible with **************** driver license (We are not required to have REAL ID until May 2023). Keep in mind, this is same ID we used to board plane coming and going. He was with his Mother and Grandmother---it was apparent there was not a need for a fake ID because AGAIN...he is 22. If fake ID was wanting to be needed, don't they think we would have used it for the 18 or 20 year old? I ended up speaking with a the lady manager, in which she gave me his license back. I even showed her pictures in my phone that are archived with dates.....showing where he turned 21 on April 20, 2021! All that is ********** and stamped. But we were still asked to leave the restaurant without being served. First of all, this was humiliating to know we were NOT doing anything wrong and to be then kicked out. I thought it exemplified TERRIBLE customer service to ask us to leave. That would have been a $400+ **** that we were denied service for NO wrong doing of our own. Duke Waikiki obviously needs to have their machine compatible to all licenses across the ** when ****** is definitely a tourist town. I would like a lot better explanation of their policy and procedures because I do NOT agree with asking us to leave the restaurant when I provided her plenty of proof that my son was of age. I would like compensation for the embarrassment that we incurred (not restaurant credit due to we do not plan to go to ****** again no time soon) or at least an explanation from the company.
