On Monday, April 3, 2023 I scheduled a curly style ($85) and paid a mandatory deposit ($50). I was charged $202.86. The salon is located in the business owners living room. When we arrived Vianna was assisting multiple clients. While in her home ****** had a total of six clients not including her helper who was performing coloring services. At no time did either stylist clean or sanitize stations, headrests, smocks, styling tools, brushes, *****, and/or sweep the floor. ****** repeatedly recommended a haircut which our minor daughter declined on three separate occasions. I also declined twice informing ****** she recently cut her hair and was not in need of a haircut. ****** proceeded to wash, condition, and rinse her hair before directing her to sit under what appeared to be a dryer. We later learned it was a steam treatment. After 30 minutes the stylist brushed, diffused, and asked if she could shape her hair. We later learned "shape" was a curly cut. At no time was an additional charge discussed and/or agreed upon. The stylist proceeded to cut a few strands of hair and recommended multiple hair products. Which once again my daughter declined. I asked ****** why her hair was not curly. For context my daughter is Hawaiian, Tahitian, and African American. Her hair has been curly since birth. The curly style I scheduled is $20 more than a regular hair style and includes: shampoo, deep conditioning, finger coils, strand twist, comb coils, and styling with a diffuser. ****** informed me she had lost her curls due to flat ironing as a result she was unable to twist or coil her hair. Prior to our departure I requested a receipt. I received an electronic receipt 10 minutes after leaving her salon. I messaged ****** regarding the excess fees and the condition of our daughters hair. I informed ****** I was charged $130 for a curly cut and $45 for a steam treatment and asked if it was a mistake. I reminded Vianna a curly cut requires the stylist to cut curl by curl and included individual curl twists and/or coils (a service she did not perform). I further reminded the stylist by her own omission it was impossible for her to perform finger twists or finger coils on our daughter as she had lost her curls. More importantly I reiterated the additional fee to shape and steam her hair was never discussed and/or presented as an additional service. I expressed my concern with the condition of her hair (stiff and stringy) and requested she perform the service I was charged or refund the difference. The stylist refused. Instead she blamed the condition of her hair on flat ironing and repeatedly pushed the sale of additional hair products. At not time did she acknowledge and/or address the overcharge. I expressed concerns with her predatory, deceptive, relentless product pushing (i.e., curly cut and steam), and quality of work. I reiterated her service has damaged our childs hair and did not align with the service advertised.
