Date of transaction: Oct. 25, 2023. I paid Lock Dr. $31.03 for a new key, having earlier that day paid RPM Auto $133.63 to remove the door lock, at request of Lock Dr., to enable him to work on the door lock in his office, for my ***** Civic. The problem: the key wouldn't turn in the lock to unlock the door. Lock Dr. previously told me that I needed "new wafers" for the lock, which he would install for $20 once RPM had removed the lock. When I went to RPM to pick up my car, they said Lock Dr. had replaced the key instead of the wafers. I then went to Lock Dr., paid for the key, but told him I felt a little miffed because he didn't do what he said he was going to do. He said he'd told me initially it could be a key problem but later on said he may have forgotten to tell me, which was in fact what happened--he never previously mentioned the key as a possible problem. When I took the car home, I found that the key continued sticking in the lock. I brought the car back to him. He said he'd talk with an associate in Georgia to see what the problem might be. He tried the key himself in my car door and verified that it was indeed still sticking. I asked if further repair was necessary, would he help share the cost. He said, "We'll work something out." Later, when I contacted him again, he refused to help with any future cost. I left, then wrote him a letter expressing my disappointment and reminded him that he'd offered to share a repair cost. A couple of weeks later, I decided to write him again, specifying what I expected and clarifying that he'd not done initially what I'd authorized him to do, instead doing what I hadn't authorized, so the lock failure was then his responsibility. I told him that I'd previously replaced the key and could have informed him of that, had he spoken with me about his change of plan with the door lock issue. In my letter, I asked him to help with cost of wafer replacement and to call me to discuss it. He never did call.
