I began searching out solar panel installation companies in the ************ ** area in early April 2022. I contacted 15 companies who work in the ************ area. Some were national, some regional (mid-western states only), and some were local (privately owned). I created a spreadsheet to track the bids and information they provided and the timeliness of responses to questions. Two companies were in the final round of the decision matrix Rabe Hardware from ********** ** and ***************** from ******* **. The deciding factor was the designs offered. **** was able to get the size of panel needed to maximize the south facing side of the roof and have only one solar array. **** also has a written guarantee that the array will produce as designed or they will upgrade/fix until it does AND pay the difference until the system works as designed. I was assigned a contact at **** who handled all the paperwork with Alliant. I paid 10% down with the balance due on job completion. All the other companies had a 3 payment plan, which reduced their risk and my leverage if the work slowed or there were issues at the end with Alliant accepting the power. **** is willing to hold the balance until the work is done. **** did an excellent job of running the solar array cabling through the attic and out the back of the house down to the meter. The also did a clean looking installation of the dc converter and switching unit next to the electrical meter. I am very pleased with **** and the staff.
