I hired ***** Construction in February of 2023 to remodel my bathroom. The original quote to do this project was $9,175. The total ended up coming out to $12,223.47. This amount was paid. I brought to the attention of ***** ****** that there were several items needing corrected as the tub caulking had failed, drywall had noticeable uneven areas, the ceiling paint was peeling, and the sink would not drain and was letting in a foul odor. I was told by ***** ****** with J&S Construction that these issues would be covered under warranty and that was agreed upon. Today 2/12/25 I was invoiced $1,640.14 for warranty repairs that were agreed in email correspondence would be covered without cost. I did not ask for any modifications to the original work, just touch *** to work that was not quality or satisfactory.I paid for these items to be completed correctly the first time and was well over the original estimate.

    Business Response

We have tried to work with this client. We originally did the work and he was happy. 7 months later he emailed not called to tell us that some of the caulking came off and the drain was not working and there was some spots of paint that was bulging. We advised that we are currently on a major project and once we get off that major project we would come to his house and correct the warranty items.  We did tell the client that some were warranty and some were not. The client advised "that sounds great no rush".  During Chance's Project we experienced difficulty with product adhesion even though we prepped with proper primers and allowed adequate dry time. The adhesion issue is caused by the attic being under ventilated and a buildup of moisture in the attic space. If left unremedied, this can lead to frosting of the roof deck, mildew and mold growth, and continual sheetrock and paint failure inside the dwelling as the moisture will swell the drywall substate, stain the surface, and prevent paint adhesion.  We provided him an estimate of his issue due to the fact he is trying to sell his home. Once our team was done with his project on January 25th, 2025. The client sent an email saying " The bathroom looks amazing. Thank you and ***** so much for everything. Take care!!!."  We are not sure why he is writing a negative comment with this. We appreciated the business and did what we said we would do. He advised he was happy.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********. After filing the initial complaint, J & S remedied the situation by not charging for their warranty work and fixing their issues from the original project. Please disregard this complaint as they have done their part to remedy.

    Sincerely,

    Chance *********
