      Not sure what the BBB "A+" rating is all about, but Madison National is the worst! My wife paid into their short term disability (STD) scheme and they are denying her claim based on bogus criteria.Have you ever been to the doctor to get something checked out but everything was normal? Well that's a "pre-existing condition"! DENIED!Did you bank some PTO to help cover your recovery time (because STD payments are miniscule)? Well then you "already have coverage". DENIED!If you are an HR director please look elsewhere and read the fine print with insurance companies. My wife works for the county and they will be dropping Madison Mutual as soon as their contract is up.

      I filed an initial claim in July for surgery that was to be happen August 2, 2022. I was told that because I had my surgery 20 days earlier than my official 1 year start they would need additional medical records. Ive released the information to Madison Life multiple times. Ive had little to no communication with Madison Life unless I ask for an update or initiate a conversation. I was told I could obtain records on my own and forward the records to them which they need to verify that I did not have a preexisting condition. What actually do the claims specialist do? Isnt it their job to facilitate the process? Ive been left without any financial security because I was planning on having disability to help with bills while recovering. However if I would have waited to have surgery for 20 additional days this would have essentially been avoided and my claim accepted. Madison Life is holding out on paying my claim over 20 days, I should have suffered in pain for 20 additional so that I could get my short and long term disability. I could barely walk but suffering 20 additional days would have been easier than all the extra hoops Ive had to jump through to get nowhere for a policy I pay a premium for out of every single paycheck.
