On 6-16-22 two men with one truck from 1-800-GOT-JUNK came to my father's house and I showed them the entire contents of the home. One of them (*******) called his supervisor and then told me their estimate to remove the contents of the house was $2,500. 1-800-GOT-JUNK's national office says that estimates are firm. The two men worked for several hours and only cleared three rooms on the main floor of the home, which I estimate to be not even one third of the entire job. They charged me $1,200 for that work, which I paid by credit card. I scheduled them to return on 6/21/22 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and scheduling is done by calling the national office. During that call I was assured that two trucks would arrive and that estimates are firm. The evening of 6/20/22 I received a phone call from the local 1-800-GOT-JUNK office saying that only one truck would be available and it would not arrive until the afternoon of 6/21/22, and that estimates are not firm. Based on how little was accomplished on 6-16-22 I was certain that the job would not be finished in one day and if I were to keep paying the local 1-800-GOT-JUNK company then the total amount I would pay would exceed the estimate. I canceled the work for 6/21/22 because of what I was told in that phone conversation on 6/20/22. Throughout the day on 6/21/22 I had several conversations with the national company and one with the manager of the local company. The manager of the local company told me that estimates are not firm because he does not know what I would do within the house between sessions, such as me filling the house back up with junk. That is ridiculous and the national office maintains that estimates are firm. I told both the national and local offices that I want a full refund of my $1,200 because weeks of time are going by and I am scheduling another company to do the work.
