Last May we hired **** dry basement and foundation repair to fully waterproof our basement and encapsulate our crawlspace under our house. We were told in doing this that we would have a 45 year warranty on our basement. One week before the first year passed, we had a lot of heavy rain and groundwater started seeping up through our floor drain in the basement. We tried reaching out and contacting **** dry basement and foundation repair and they sent out somebody to fix the problem. The individual they sent to our home, didnt know how to fix the issue and said they would get back to us as soon as they found out an answer to our problems. We didnt hear back from the company for over a week and we were still having a ton of water flooding up through the floor drain in the basement. We finally got Jons dry basement to answer, and they said that we would have to pay to fix the issue. And that our 42 year warranty does not cover this problem because it is not something that they did or could have foreseen happening. The issue with this is that I paid over $16,000 for my basement to be fully waterproof and not even a year later I have a bunch of water flooding my basement and the company that I hired is not holding up their end of the deal. It has been over three weeks and we are just now getting somebody to come out and fix our basement and we are having to still pay for it. They are fighting with us and saying that they wont fix it until we pay. The bill is only $414 but if I paid them to fully waterproof my basement, then they should be covering the cost.

      Good morning,

I spoke to this Customer yesterday afternoon and believe we are on the same page now. The water issue they are having now is due to a floor drain being connected to their old sump pump pit that is no longer being used since we installed our waterproofing system. We were unaware that this is how the floor drain was set up, as discussed with *************************** this is not covered under warranty due to that fact. We discussed this yesterday and Dry Basement did agree to a discount on the service that needs to be performed. This work is scheduled to be completed tomorrow 6/28/24.

      Thank you

I am rejecting this response because:
First of all, I would like to address Dry Basement's persistent disavowal of responsibility for the damages caused. Contrary to the company's interpretation, when I signed the contract, it was not an authorization for unrestricted alterations to the structure. I did not provide a blank check to elevate the structure significantly above the recommended level by the company's own estimator, as evidenced in the accompanying pictures.
As winter approached, I took the initiative to temporarily seal foundation cracks and reinstall patio boards to prevent further damage due to freezing. Inside the property, I suggested to the company's representative to make basic aesthetic improvements to mask the damaged walls and floors. To facilitate a compromise, I propose the company undertake the following two remedies, which I believe would represent a fair resolution:
Slightly rearrange one row of floor tiles to blend the damaged floor (wide gap in ceramic tiles and thick grout) with the surrounding area. This would involve replacing approximately 7-8 tiles, which I am willing to provide.
Repair the interior drywalls by patching cracks and smoothing out buckled areas.
Based on my inquiries, the estimated cost for these proposed remedies falls within the range of $800-$900.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and sincerely hope we can reach a fair resolution promptly.

      Sincerely,

*********************************oring, buckled walls, the sliding door originally tilted due to settlement, remains difficult to open freely, and most alarmingly, irreparable cracks or breaks in the concrete foundation walls at least in two places; the promised quality service was not delivered and despite being very obvious, ************************ response to my concerns was dismissive, stating that those outcomes were expected! I am deeply disappointed by the company's nonchalant attitude towards the grievances of its customers.I request a partial refund from Dry Basement Foundation ****, along with an additional amount to account for the negative impact the visible crack on the concrete foundation walls would have on the value of my property.

Dry Basement, **** has reviewed this complaint in addition to sending our estimator out to meet with the Homeowner upon our receiving the information of dissatisfaction. Per our contract, we are not responsible for any additional damage when lifting a foundation. However, for good customer relations we will offer to epoxy inject the 2 new fractures in the foundation as well as $400 to help with the interior repairs that are needed.

This company worked on my foundation. It cost over ****** dollars. They destroyed my yard, my frontage...left over 3 feet of clay/ dirt piled up against the house and left many uneven planes in yard that are resulting in water/ mud drainage back to house. I asked them to please restore the front yard to a semblance of what it was prior to the work. They had a bobcat on site. When they retuned last week to review their job i again pointed out the damage and piled up dirt...they responded that they did not provide landscaping. I knew that but asked them to at least level or grade the resulting dirt pile up with a bobcat. They refused saying i needed a landscaping company. I had 3 independent contractors tell me that dry basement foundation company certainly should have graded and tamped down the 3 ft piles of dirt against the house upon completion. My house looks terrible. I am elderly and cannot do the work and after ****** i do not have any more money. I just want the yard/dirt/ planing back to a smooth plane. I realize that landscaping was not included but was never told that the yard would be destroyed and left in such a terrible condition. The man who came over to review the job insisted that they did not have equipment to restore the damage, but i was told told that a bobcat was the required machine. Their bobcat sat in our yard all duribg the job so i believe that they could have done something to make the yard more acceptable and prevent even more water drainage happening by restoring the front of the house back to at least a semblance of what it was.

First off, I apologize for the delay in the response to this complaint as we somehow must have missed or not received the original notice. The scope of work that was completed at this home required that we leave dirt mounded after the digging so that natural settlement of the area could occur over time. Per our contract under disclaimers #5 states "If the company performs any excavation or digging in the yard, then the company will NOT be responsible for a final grade or grass seed. A rough re-grade may be purchased for $500 for further machine dirt work. *If a Regrade has not been purchased and included in this contract the customer may purchase at a later date." That Regrade was not purchased as a part of the original contract. i will reach out to the owner to find out if that natural settlement has occurred and solved this problem and if not discuss what options we can help with.
