I got the professional services from Bea Day Plumbers in order to replace one water heater from my home (same manufacturer and device model). After finishing the job, it sent me an invoice for $ ******** including materials and labor costs (up to US $830.48 of labor and parts costs). Considering new parts charged as $132.98, the labor cost summed $697.5. Considering a labor cost per hour up to $95, and a labor journey of no more than 4 hours, it should be charged as: $95 x 4= $380, so in fact, it was extra charged the amount of $317,5 ($697.5 - $380 = $317,5). As you can confirm at the emails attached, the business can't justify this extra charge of $317.5.This is a frequent situation where businesses do not consider their customers able to breakdown a simple invoice, so it becomes comfortable charging a fake invoice...

When first contacted by the homeowner, we were told the water heater needed was already on site. When we arrived, we found the water heater to be damaged. We then needed to ****************** a replacement water heater to bring back to install. As we explained to the homeowner, the extra time involved and the fact water heaters are cumbersome and heavy, we allow for 2 plumbers to complete the install. As the 95 dollar an hour charge counts towards both installers, a total of 190, we of our own accord discounted the 2nd plumber to allow for the mismanaged water heater originally provided by the homeowner

I am rejecting this response because:

So, how much does it cost to install a water heater? It can be answered as it depends on the complexity of materials and the cost of services in the area (cost of living). According to *********** the Nationwide *** cost of installing a new water heater generally fall within the range of $1,300 to $2,300 (*** -Suggested Retail Cost), with an average national *** of $1,750, which includes installation materials, to provide a basic water heater, cost of labor for a certified plumber *********** stated it will be required only a plumber) and finally, the removal of the old unit (************************************************************************).On the other hand, according to the ********** of Missouri, **** has the eighth lowest cost of living in ***************** for the second quarter of 2023 (*************************************************). In terms of statistics, we can conclude that **** is positioned in the lower 25th percentile of US cost of living general (cost of goods and services).

As a matter of fact, considering the Home Depots water heater installation *** (*** will always be higher that the real-world costs), and the cost of living in Iowa, we can conclude that for sure, the real cost of installing a basic water heater in Iowa (50 gallons with a 6-year limited warranty period) as it was installed in my home, should fall between $962-$1,300.This target price has been calculated applying a 20% discount over the *** plus a 25% discount for the cost of living in Iowa to the average national *** ($1,750).

In conclusion, the general estimation from an independent party ***********) to install a water heater is too far from the amount charged by ******* Plumbing ($ ********); even the average national *** is still remaining below the price charged by ******* Plumbing. Finally, I saw the response provided by ******* Plumbing and still this contractor is still unable to break down the invoice provided, and to justify professionally the cost they charged. I am asking to ******* Plumbing to correct the costs they improperly charged in the invoice submitted.

      Sincerely,

      *****************************

      Water Heater - $875.87

      Materials - $132.98

Labor for two plumbers - $697.50

      Tax - $102.38

While I appreciate the ****** extensive research into what ********** says your average install should take, they are a bit biased and very low for industry standards. They also don't include all of the data needed to cover all different installation types.

We value our employees and do not like to see them unnecessarily injured. While some installations can be done with one person (garage, main floor/walk out) basement installation are the most common in Iowa. This requires either heavy lifting and maneuvering or expensive equipment. Both would be charged out accordingly.

To reiterate, this was also NOT a standard installation in the fact that we spend extra time going back and forth discovering the owner provided water heater was damaged as well as picking up a replacement. Extra time is always going to equate extra cost. I understand jobs like these are a big investment but we do not take advantage of anyone and have the reputation to prove it.
