This Foot Clinic sent home with my 12 year old son a splint that did not fit him. I took the splint back to them unused; he couldnt even get it Velcro onto his ankle. My insurance paid them $115.33 already for this splint that my son NEVER used. Now they want me to pay $184.67 more!! They are trying to charge $300 for a VERY CHEAP night splint that didnt even fit my sons foot!! Ridiculous!

    Business Response

    Date: 02/27/2024

On 8/7/2023 the night splint was dispensed in our office.

On 8/21/2023, a follow up was done in our office where the mother indicated he was wearing the splint but couldn't stand to *********** night.

I believe it was in December 2023, not sure on date, he splint and a note were thrown on the front desk and the mother was out the door before any discussion could be had. (see attached)

I, ***************************, attempted to contact the patient's mother and received her voicemail in which I left a message to discuss the situation of the night splint.  My call was not returned.  The charges were not removed as the night splint was dispensed and indication was made that it was used.  This requires we dispose of the equipment and cannot reuse.  The charge was not removed at this time.

Another statement was sent, and upon receipt of this, the patients mother called AFTER HOURS @ 7PM, threatening to go to the television media, social media, better business bureau and to ruin the Doctors name.  I again attempted to call the patient to resolve this issue and explain the circumstances.  Again, no return call.

We were more than happy to come to an agreement.  We weren't given that option. ************ has been in business for over 25 years and is loved by the community we support and the patients we care for.  There is nothing unethical in the way we run our practice.

The remaining balance has been written off to avoid any further defamation of character. No further contact will be made.

Not all modalities that we suggest, and offer will work depending on the patient and their compliance.

We appreciate your time and attention into this matter.  If you need any additional information, please feel free to reach out and I can provide any written documentation once a medical release form is obtained.

This letter was dated 2/23/24 and we did not receive it via regular mail until Wednesday 2/28/24.  We ask that you allow the delay in the mailing system when considering a 10 day response time as well. Thank you for your consideration.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Thank you to this business for doing the right thing. But it is a lie that I said he was wearing it!!! He NEVER wore it cuz it didnt fit!!!! And I didnt throw anything. I set it on the desk and then quickly left because, yes, I didnt want to talk to them after charging $300 for a $30 splint.

    Sincerely,
