Beginning of July 24th we hired A+ Services to complete drywall in the lower level of our home following flood damage. The project had originally been scheduled to begin on the 22nd but due to our own schedule we communicated with ***** that the start date would need to be pushed back. An understanding was reached to begin the 24th. During the time in which ************** were in our home we experienced several is***s. The first is*** we had, which was communicated, was that the workers did not show up until mid-day. We had been told they would arrive first thing in the morning. ***** communicated us that the finish date would be the following Monday. Then it was pushed back several times finally landing on Wednesday. On July 27th his workers brought two women and three young children (including one baby) into our home, with no warning or approval. Upon complaining to ***** via text after unanswered calls, he stated that he told his workers it was unacceptable. It was communicated to them to grab their tools and leave. Afterwards during conversations with ***** it was stated he expected the entirety of the invoice paid for an unfinished job or he would take us to court to *** us. We allowed them to complete due to financial constraints on our end. ***** stated that we were overreacting and ******* the work and constantly nagging. Then upon arrival to our home on July 5th he yelled at the home owners father, who is on the ownership of the home as well, and stated he would not be offering a discount or fixing the many problems found and discussed. We were then told we should be grateful because if we had chosen to work with a different company the work wouldve cost much more. He also stated that we received a discount when originally the quote was for a larger space that we then cut down on by an entire room. He was disrespectful, unprofessional and had no interest in open discussion on the given is***s.Business Response

Oh *****, I do feel sorry for you.
How did I know you would complain.
This seems like your daily attitude on life with my little interaction I have had with you, I truly feel sorry for your husband **** who is a nice gentleman trying to reason with an unhappy person in life.
Your son & father in law actually ran into my son at Menards, helped him load some materials & apologized for the type of person you are & your "bitchy attitude".
Lets start there with the type of irrational person we are dealing with, now onto the project.
Lets summarize your project from a professional standpoint & a company that has been doing projects for 20 years.
You called 2 weeks ago to get your project completed, you recieved a proposal the next day, you accepted the proposal that day, deposit was made, materials were delivered & the project is underway.
To start your home was flooded & you probably should not have had your pregnant self & all of your 4 kids move back into a complete & utter disaster of a mess that is being put back together.

Oh Kodie, I do feel sorry for you.
How did I know you would complain.
This seems like your daily attitude on life with my little interaction I have had with you, I truly feel sorry for your husband **** who is a nice gentleman trying to reason with an unhappy person in life.
To start your home was flooded & you probably should not have had your pregnant self & all 4 kids move back into a complete & utter disaster of a mess that was being put back together.
Your son & father in law actually ran into my son at Menards, helped him load some materials & apologized for the type of person you are & your "bitchy attitude".
Now that we have that covered on the type of irrational person we are dealing with, we can move onto the project.
Lets summarize your project from a professional standpoint & a company that has been doing projects for 20 years.
You called 2 weeks ago to get your project completed, you received a proposal the next day, you accepted the proposal that day, deposit was made, materials were delivered & the project is underway.
Project timeline:
- 07.22.24 was original start date
- You pushed this date back until Wednesday as the basement was not ready for drywall
- Now we are 2 days late into the project w/ your setback
- 07.24.24 drywall is hanging
- We are onsite daily hanging drywall, installing corners & mud begins 07.26.24
- This is where the time starts dragging as mud takes time to dry & being in an environment w/ AC it takes much longer
- 07.27.24 second coat is put on w/ sanding & touch ups
- This is the day you are demanding the job to be done Sunday as painters are coming Monday
This is where the project gets out of hand w/ you & your crazy timelines. We can not rush dry times & prep times especially in the environment with HVAC running slowing the dry time.
On Sunday my Project Manager & the 2 workers called you downstairs to let you know this project is not ready for texture as it is still drying, they showed you wet mud on the ***** & corners.
They also let you know that the project needs another skim coat on corners & touch **** you again demanded the job moves forward w/ texture.
Now I know you have never drywalled before but once you texture the job is done, there is no more sanding or skim coating & we made sure you understood this.
- With witnesses you said, "I don't care, it needs to get done today, texture the walls!"
This schedule was initially pushed back by you 2 days & then you demanded to get it done NOW.
That is absolutely absurd logic & irrational thinking.
Only reason I am responding to this ridiculousness is you are attacking the integrity of my business & accusing us of shoddy workmanship when in fact your husband states in the texts you provided that the workers are doing excellent work & he is wanting to give them a 2nd chance.
I truly hope you can find some sort of happiness in life, life is not about being miserable & in turn making others miserable as well.
We finished to your standards in 6 days, a full basement & under the stairs,
- SHEETED
- MUDDED
- TAPED
- SANDED
- CORNERED
- TEXTURED

*****-
After reading through your response both my husband and I are finding irregularities. The communication via others to you and to us has not been accurate throughout. As much as you feel you are being misrepresented, we feel the same is happening to us. Due to this we would like to request a sit down meeting where you, ****, myself and a third party mediator can talk through this and reach an understanding. We want this settled as much as you do but we also want to ensure all information on both ends is being accurately provided. This would give both ends the opportunity to open discussion with each of us being open to listen and respectfully respond to one another. As I said, we want this done as much as you do.
Sincerely,
Kodie & *************************Business Response

This will be my last response to this ridiculous complaint against my company.
I am confused why you are so confused.
To recap, we did an entire basement for your residence within a week for $9200 & that includes all materials. That in itself is an amazing price for what was done.
We told you we needed 1 more day for the mud to dry before we did a final skim coat & textured.
You demanded to spray texture that day since the painters start tomorrow in front of my Project Manager & 2 workers knowing the sill plates & corners were still wet & the project was needing more time.
Time which was lost when your father in law pushed back the start date by 2 days.
We specifically told you it is not ready & you said get it done now.
This brings me back to your comment of being confused, why are you confused?
You stopped a project that was not done so you could paint the next day & we told you it was not ready.
We were rushed this entire project so the outcome is of your own making.
This matter does not qualify for a 3rd party mediator or any further reasoning & I am done responding to the accusations that we did poor workmanship.
If you read our reviews we actually have quite the opposite reaction of your experience which was of your own ************************** to you next time, stay off the project & let the hired company do the job, obviously you have no experience doing drywall & now you see why we said it needs more time.
Again I wish you the best in getting your home back together & getting back to normal life but your problems are of your own making.

Paid ****** to complete a shed project in my yard. After numerous concerns with framing ***** is refusing to speak to us, or refund money for an uncompleted project.Business Response

Good Evening ****,
This is in response to ******** & the complainant.
I will include my version of the events as I know they are more logical than the complainants. As I have stated in my previous emails to him we are square on his project minus the drywall monies which I will reimburse to him with a check to his address. The rest of the money has been used on all materials, time, labor, & fixing problems caused by his designer.
Let's start here, the designer created a materials list that I handed to my supplier, who in turn ordered exactly everything on that list for his project. Not only was the materials list wrong, but the entire set of plans were not plans, when it came to build all we had was pictures to go off of, no pitch, no up down measurements, nothing, just pretty pictures.
When we started sorting the lumber package that the designers list called for we knew immediately we had the wrong materials. She only called for 16' boards throughout the entire project, when in fact the roof needed 22' boards in order to the 1' overhang on each side, which again was not detailed in the pretty drawings that the complainant paid for.
Roofs are critical support structures and need uncut straight rafters, & ***** or ***** ends. The entire roof needs to be uncut boards. With 16' boards this was impossible.
After organizing his designer's materials list and seeing that it was wrong I loaded up all the wood for the roof components on a Sunday & spent 8 hours returning the wrong materials & got the correct materials.
To address the 1' overhang which no measurements are listed on the pictures from the designer, which I will include as evidence, we could only do a 6" overhang as 20' foot boards are in stock common boards, 22' boards are special order & would push materials cost up $4,000.00, not something the complainant would have wanted as he has been trying to drive costs down from day one.
This wrong materials list ate up a good portion of the set aside labor package I had on the proposal for the complainant of $2,500.00. My discounted hourly rate for this project was $55.00 which is heavily discounted from my normal customers.
To add to this ridiculous and absurd complaint is the fact that the first 2 projects I had done for this family were amazing to use there words.
The complainant was not happy from day 1 that I did not use his framer, but like I told him, his framer would not text me back, or respond to my voicemails for weeks. I can not & will not plan a project around a guy who is unresponsive to calls or texts for weeks. This is not how I operate.
To address the framing, we literally just started framing now that we had the correct lumber to work with. There is literally nothing wrong with the way we put up the structure.
The complainant installed a video camera with microphone on the back of his home to watch our every move, and from day 1 he would text me on our every move, & email nightly regarding progress or how he felt the project should be going or how his framer guy that I did not use felt we were doing items wrong.
I told the complainant in and email, prior to me blocking him from all contact due to the harassment from daily email and text, that we were going to redo his headers for him and his framer guy but this is not a full size garage door and the system we had for the door would have been perfectly fine.
We used 2x6 construction for the entire structure, & 2x8 for the roof structure, beefing this structure up above and beyond code requirements. To be honest this was our second day of framing and we were just starting to wrap in the sides in order to create rigidity for the roof to go on.
To address his thoughts on waste, that is just absurd, construction sites create a lot of waste and this does not deserve a response.
The complainant is a controlling home owner who likes to degrade and talk down to people, I do not need to put up with this type of attitude or verbal assault. I am quick to get these types of people out of my life.
There is no money owed, he has all the materials for his project and they were delivered to his site and placed perfectly on his property. What he does with them when they are on his property is his business.
I would say contractor beware of this customer unless you want to be bullied and harassed from day one. The attitude from this customer after doing amazing work on his first two projects, then to be ridiculed and harassed is absolutely crazy.
Especially when my company was doing this as a favor for his wife who works at the local chamber, which creates business 2 business difficulties.
I have tried to work with the customer but he always wants to be right, which I cannot understand how he knows better than the person he hired to do the job. I finally told him he should probably do the job himself and to have a great life.
I know this is a lot to unload but this is the truth, some stuff you can not make up.
To address the pics attached:
The pictures were all I had to go off up until day 1 of the build, when the designer was contacted she stated that this is all she gives the contractors and they are able to build the structure. I said no, these are not build plans, or blue prints these are just pretty pictures, I need slope for the roof elevation, up down measurements for the build out, etc. 2 days later we were sent the 3 other pictures, WHICH ARE NUMBERED 1, 2, & 3 that still do not show a 1' overhang anywhere on the building or a pitch for the roof. We created our own 3-4/12 pitch roof for the angle.
I will add that the foundation measurements are a good start but these are not build plans or spec blue prints, I can attach what real plans are supposed to look like if this conversation needs to go any further but I think it should be obvious to all that these are just drawings & pretty pics of a shed.
I told the customer to get his money back. I have sent him what blueprints & build sheets look like, and these are not even close.
I am surprised there is not a BBB case file for the concrete company who did a shoddy job to where he needs to redo his deck since there lines were off, and the fact that the concrete could not hold a foundation anchor in places, the concrete would just shatter under load. Not good, this was another cost cutting measure by the complainant. I will attach a pic of that ordeal as well.
I will also attach pics of the framing that had just started which is looking great, this is literally day 2, job site is clean, lumber is stacked in place, surroundings are cleaned up & organized. This is literally day 2 of a frame out, we have not even started making final cuts for windows or doors. We had just started. Unreal. I wish the complainant the best of luck.
You have all of my contact information below and I have no problem responding to any further dialogue we have.
Enjoy your evening.
