      Approximately 4-5 months ago I had an issue with my central air conditioning unit. I contacted a friend who works for an ************ in *********, ****. Upon his request, I replaced the fuses, and the unit wouldn't cool the interior.When he checked the unit, there was an issue with the compressor, and he indicated that the unit needed to be replaced. I proceeded to contact several **** companies and request estimates to replace the unit.I had contacted Chown Appliances in *******, **** and requested an estimate/quote to replace the unit. When the Chown representative arrived, he indicated that he needed to remove the cover and check it with his equipment to see what was wrong with it. I informed him that I had already had another **** company representative verify that the unit was "shot" and needed to be replaced. I also informed him that I only wanted an estimate.The individual proceeded to check the unit and informed me that it wasn't repairable. Again, I informed him that I already knew that.I have recently received a service call bill from Chown Appliances that is estimated to be around $100. If I had been informed upfront that there was a service charge or what the price would have been, I would have declined the individual. I was only seeking an *********** I have already indicated, I have several companies provide estimates at no cost. I feel strongly that Chown Appliance hasn't acted in good faith. I have had no contact with the business since receiving the bill. I am requesting that a representative of the Better Business Bureau assist me in resolving this issue. Thank you.

      Hello *****,

      There seems to have been some confusion in the communication that day. I honestly don't know what was communicated that day with it being so long ago that the work was performed. I do show that an invoice was sent in August with no payment or communication made to us on the concern over the invoice. It would have been nice to have known sooner and directly about this concern. Seeing as no payment has been made, the invoice for that day will be voided and closed out.
