I reached out to glass roots window to repairt my window leaking with water. I paid a $200 deposit, it took them more than a month to complete the work. After the work was completed my window was still leaking water. I told them via text my window was still leaking and they never attempted to come back and honor their work. My expectation of them was that after my window was fixed it would stop leaking water. That did not happen. I've reached out to the company again to ask for a refund because they were not able to complete the work satisfactorily. I do not recommend working with this company. They also s**** a lot of my neighbor's in my community as well.Initial Complaint

I gave ****, of Glass Roots, a $350 deposit on March 16, 2024, for his quote of $700 for 2 large wall mirrors and installation. After months of promises and excuses, now in July he says he wants an additional $300 cash, up front - with still no installation date.I agreed to pay him the additional $300 and the $350 balance due at time of installation. Still no luck getting the job done. I would like my $350 deposit back.I am 82 and live on social security.Initial Complaint

On Nov. 3, 2023, I hired them to turn my screened in porch to a 3 seasons porch with walls, windows, wallboard inside. Insulation under the porch that is covered with wood. Siding on outside and around windows. The door is a cheaper one than pictured and there is NO deadbolt. I paid 1/2 down on Nov. 7, 2023 with remaining to be paid at completion. They kept asking for more money because they have no upfront capital and never had money for the materials! They said it would take 3 full days to complete this project! It is now almost 9 months and they have NOT followed thru with their false promises, etc. They actually told me many months in that they had never actually done a complete porch before! I ended up paying the remaining balance on 5/17/24 only because they found my siding at ******* and wanted to secure it before it was gone. They subcontracted the siding in June and some of it needs to be fixed. Several things need to be fixed that I've had to hire someone else to do, and do it right. They haven't been here to work for 2 months. They came and grabbed their tools last week and said they'd be back the next day......of course they didn't SHOW. I've caught them in SO many lies......they are not even a little bit nice about things anymore. I gave them a few weeks to come and complete this project, as I didn't want to hire someone else or consult my lawyer. Nothing seems to affect them. I've spent SO much time waiting for them to show up and finish and fix this! When they have been here to work, it's only a few hours here and there. They forget tools, etc. and have to leave to get them. This has caused me an extreme amount of stress and anxiety! My family and friends hate this and even my Medical *** said to call my Lawyer. I guess that's my next move. I found them on the Next Door app and even called for references, that were good. Ironically, now I'm seeing MANY complaints from people about the same stuff! We've all been scammed, need to stop them!!Initial Complaint

We hired the company Glass Roots build a composite deck in April of 2024. We signed a contract on April 17th, deck to be completed by May 10th pending weather. No work done, only excuses. Asked for a refund on June 27, was assured we would get refund on our credit card. No money has been credited. $3,440. It is now July 24th and have been ghosted. No communication at all.Initial Complaint

On May 17, 2024 I made a payment of $1050.00 (one half of estimate amount) to Glass Roots, LLC of *****, IA for a job to include building and staining new steps from my porch down to my patio, and cleaning, re-screening, and re-staining my covered screened in porch. The proposed start date given to me in email by Glass Roots was June 6, 2024. Glass Roots did not show up on June 6th. On June 10th I emailed ****** asking for an update for the start date for this project. I also asked the process for selecting a stain color. I did not get a response. On June 15th I got an email from ****** saying she somehow missed my June 10th email and said she would get me scheduled soon. ****** also said she could drop off books of stain color samples to my house. I got no further response. On June 26th, I emailed ****** again saying I need to know the start date of this project. I also requested that stain color samples be dropped off to me as offered in the June 15th email. Again, no response from Glass Roots. On July 10th I got an email from ****** saying I have you down to begin Wednesday (July 17), will that work for you? Have you selected a stain color? I replied immediately saying that date would work but I had not picked a stain color because the requested color samples were never dropped off to me. Also in this July 10th email, I asked for ****** to please give me a call because I had a few questions before the job starts. I never got a call or an email. On July 17th Glass Roots was again a no show. I emailed and called and left a voice mail for them that day letting them know that if I did not hear from them by the end of that day, I would be taking steps to file complaints and request a full refund of the $1050.00 that I have paid to date. On July 18, 2024, I emailed Glass Roots, LLC, requesting that they refund the $1050.00 that I paid to them on my Mastercard on May 17, 2024, and cancel any and all jobs covered by that half-down payment.Initial Complaint

I paid a deposit of 1175 to have my deck redone with composite framing and all openings re-screened. The initial interaction was quick responses but after the deposit was made I have not recieved a response since 6/26. I have left text messages asking for updates, sent an email and left a voicemail that all went unanswered. When calling the phone number the voicemail prompt states that they are Same ********************* which is not the same company name that was provided to me or on my invoice. As I was looking at reviews I noticed a similar complaint I didn't see until after I paid my deposit.Initial Complaint

We paid $200 in April (half down) to have patio and deck screens replaced. We kept asking for updates and they only answered a few times with promises that they were working on it, they need to remeasure, the wrong item came in, we will build it ourself. Sometimes they would reply when we asked for updates, but not always. Finally I posted something on a website asking others about dealings with this company. Some had favorable comments, some had complaints like mine. They left a message the same day after I posted saying they would call/text the next day to set up an appointment. They did not. In that message they said they would be here Tuesday, at the latest (today). Still no time frame for coming but also asked me to remove the post. I wanted to wait to see what resolved. I called again this morning for a time. My call was not returned. We are retired and on a fixed income. We cannot afford to lose this money.Initial Complaint

Dear *** or Madam,I am writing to file a formal complaint against Glass Root, LLC for their unacceptable and unethical business practices. In November 2023, I posted on the Nextdoor app seeking a contractor for a window installation project for my deck. Glass Root, LLC responded promptly and conducted a free estimate within two days. They provided an estimate and requested a 50% down payment of $487.50, promising to install the windows within four weeks. However, despite waiting patiently for over two months, the installation never occurred. Each time I inquired about the status, I received different excuses, and at times, they didnt respond for weeks. They finally committed to a March 2024 installation, which was then postponed to April. Both dates passed without any action from their side.Frustrated, I requested a refund, which they agreed to. However, the refund attempts through Square were unsuccessful multiple times. I then filed a dispute with my credit card company, but Glass Root, LLC falsely claimed that the service had been provided. As of today, July 2, 2024, I am still owed $487.50, my initial down payment. This has been an ongoing issue for over seven months, causing me considerable distress and wasting a significant amount of my time. My repeated emails to them have gone unanswered.I have always believed in supporting local businesses and have been extremely patient, giving them multiple chances to rectify the situation. Unfortunately, they have treated me unfairly and unprofessionally, causing me a great deal of frustration and disappointment.I urge the Better Business Bureau to take appropriate action against Glass Root, LLC to prevent others from experiencing similar issues and to help me recover my owed funds.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Sincerely,*****************Initial Complaint

I paid 1150 on a credit card to have the screens replaced, deck painted, damaged boards replaced and a new screen door put on. They kept pushing the date until the weather was getting too cold to paint so we mutually agreed to put the work off until spring with them promising me multiple times I would be their first job in the spring. I made it very clear I needed the job done by the time I got out of school at the end of May. There were several days to do the job, but it did not get done. I contacted an attorney and let them know this and gave them a deadline of June 7 about an extra week longer than I wanted, but at this point just wanted the deck to be done so I could enjoy it for the summer as finding someone else now would probably mean I would have to wait until fall again. They keep giving excuses and leading me on fo r when they can finish the job from not having childcare, to not having enough help to a family member dying twice in am ambulance and being in the **** When they did finally show up, they worked from 11-2 and then left without any explanation. When I messaged to find out if they were coming back, I was told they were shoping for a door for me even though I had been told before they had a door for me already. They up and left all of the paint supplies and boards and nails all over the place even though they know I have dogs. The dogs chewed a paint stick and a foam piece because it was left on the ground. They even left nails where the dogs could get them. They were supposed to be here this weekend but now they are saying they said they might come this weekend. It is ridiculous how they are keeping my money, but not finishing the job. And today they told me the boards are rotten, yet apparently they are just going to use them anyway IF they ever show up!This is the worst business I have ever worked with in my life!! I have plenty of texts and messages on Next Door to prove my case. A former coworker who is also very dissatisfied with them.Customer Answer
