June 2023 created my new business with the help of Hogan Hansen. Camel was unable to complete so I did part that she wasn't able to. Had ********* do my sales tax filing starting in June, she never indicated there was a fee. I assumed this was a free service for them setting up business. As I never received bill statement June, July, August, September, October, November, December, January or February. I get a statement in March charging me $70.00 a month and was filing $0 in sales taxes. When I received invoice immediately called and talked to ***** she referred me to ********* so left message she said she would check on it. Had to call again and ********* said she would get it corrected. Received another invoice with no changes called again said would check on it no follow up. Had my taxes prepared and went to pickup around June 2024 and when I was paying ***** tried to collect the $70 per month I advised never was settled did inform that money was taken off the initial setting up of the business said she will have ********* call me. I paid for tax preparation and balance for setting up business. ********* called me the next day and said nothing was going to be taken off because service was rendered. I feel that I should not be charged for filing sales tax as if I was informed and would have filed myself as that is what I'm doing now. One last thing is they billed me several months of $70 even though I had filed myself.

We have attempted multiple times to contact this client to help discuss the situation and clear up the issue with no response back from the client.  We are a full service, for profit CPA firm.  We do not provide free services to clients, nor do we advertise or communicate that our services are at no charge.  This client engaged our firm to perform services on her behalf, which were completed properly and timely.  They were billed for our services, after the work is complete, which is our standard billing process, as well as being in line with industry standards.  With the lack of communication from this client, had these services not been performed they would have incurred substantial penalties, which we assisted in keeping them in good standing and avoiding penalties and interest.

I am rejecting this response because: I was not invoiced in a timely manner as they stated there company does.  I opened my business in June; which I assisted on doing.  Yes they filed my sales tax, but not one time did they say it was going to be a charge. It took a well known business 7 months to send me an invoice. When I received I immediately contacted and I was the one keeping up on trying to get results. When I found that it was $70 per month I advised I would do myself which I did and they still charged me $70 for doing nothing.  I want the billing adjusted. I would agree to splitting in half.

      Sincerely,

We reserve the right to bill in timely fashion as we see fit.  We are in business to earn a profit and bill for our services, we do not offer free services, nor do we advertise that.  We are willing to settle for 50% of the current outstanding balance as well.  Please pay $225 by 8/31/2024.

      Thank you

April 2, 2004. This a cpa firm. I was getting my ********************************* person visit, I noticed an extra charge of $250 for additional meetings. At the first meeting the cpa firm missed my daughters tax information in my drop off folder. Along with the tax credit for a new water heater install. At the second in person meeting, still not done. I met with an associate to discuss the new water heater tax credit. He informed me there was still missing information from me. No prior communication happened on the missing documentation. I informed the associate how frustrating and unprofessional the firm has behaved on the preparation of my taxes 2023. I was then informed the billing department will contact me to discuss the billing of additional time. Three days go by. I call in and initiate a discussion with the billing department. We discussed the frustration felt by me on the poor interdepartmental communication with Hogan - Hansen. A reach out to the board of directors was made on my behalf. Without documentation, I was informed that the additional $250 was a compromise made on my behalf. I have used this firm several years. Not once was I billed for additional time. Nor was and information sent to me discussing additional time to be billed at $xxx.** per hour.

This matter has been resolved with ****************.  His bill has been waived in exchange for him finding a new accountant to serve him.  We bill based on hours which is described in our engagement letters.

I am rejecting this response because:  the response is narcissistic.   I did accept their proposal.  A waiver off all fees if I returned all their material back to Hogan and Hansen.  Not much offered in a compromise.  Very all or nothing.  I understand to bill according to hours.  No hourly fee notice is posted in office.   I did ask for a sit down meeting when my ***** return was complete.  No mention of additional fees was mentioned at the time I scheduled the sit down appointment.  I had previous in person meeting for previous years.  Not once was I billed for additional time.  So a precedence has been set, from my point of view, no additional fees for a sit down meeting are billable.  I offered to spit the difference on the additional meeting fees.  My offer was rejected.  Then I was informed, the $250 for additional fees WAS the compromise, the FULL bill was higher.  NO FULL bill with itemization was produced.  Therefore can not be trusted and considered hearsay.  I understand that during tax season, things get crazy.  Not an excuse to miss items in my tax preparation.  This is a CPA firm.  With better communication, fewer in person meeting would have occurred.  Thus eliminating the extra additional fees.

      Sincerely,
