Scheduled this company to come replace my truck starter on a 1995 ****** Tacoma on 6/29/24. They make you prepay for the entire quote to get the service scheduled, so I begrudgingly paid the $656+tax to schedule the service. The mechanic showed up at scheduled time and started the repair. One hour later he is knocking on my door and tells me he needs to take a break because he can't figure out how to pull the starter out. ******** then leaves to go research how to pull the starter out. After he left I got under my truck to see what he was talking about, and I was able to pull the starter out without any issue. 2 hrs later he text messages me saying he needs to remove the hydraulic steering lines to get the starter out and that I had to pay an additional $800+ to get him to come back to finish the job. I then informed him that I was able to easily pull the starter out and that hydraulic lines did not need to be removed. He continued to reiterate that I had to pay the additional amount for him to come back, and now his next availability wasn't until the following Monday. It was at this point I realized he wasn't coming back to finish the job I already paid for, so I was forced to go to the auto parts store and purchase another new starter for an additional $150 and install it myself. The mechanic stopped responding to messages and wouldn't even drop off the new starter he was supposed to install that I had already paid for. The business has very little information online and when you call the phone number it is an automated phone system. The address listed for the business is an apartment complex. I am at a loss for what to do next. I would like to be refunded and also make sure no more innocent people have to go through this. I posted a 1 star review on ****** and yelp, and they keep deleting their business pages and creating new ones with fake 5 star reviews. I think this company is a complete scam. I have all evidence proving this complaint.
