I hadn't been to an ophthalmologist in a couple years after my previous eye doctor retired and I needed new glasses. I did some online research and made an appointment with Maple Grove Eye Clinic. The office staff and doctor were friendly and professional at my appointment and I intended to return in the future. I provided the information for my ************* and the front desk asked for my medical ID card as well. I asked why they needed that for a general Vision appointment and they said just in case there's something medical. I figured it might be for the cornea test, in case BCI might cover it.I spoke with VSP 03/24/25 and was advised the only claim received was dated 01/14/25. A claim has never been submitted for the eye exam. Please see the attachments which explain more about what occurred.I haven't heard back from Maple Grove Eye Clinic yet, but requested a detailed billing in writing. I'm very tired of dealing with this, so have decided to go this route to hopefully get them to provide what I've requested. I only wish to pay what I owe and never think about Maple Grove Eye Clinic again. The 03/07/25 email from Maple Grove Eye billing states they're writing off $105, which I already paid, so it's not a write-off or I would be due a refund. Then ******** goes back to saying I still owe a balance of $55. I have requested via phone and email that they provide me a statement showing a zero balance because I do not want this to come back to me at some point. It seems shady that they're billing medical insurance instead of/in addition to vision. I've never had medical billed for glasses/contacts lens appointments and I've worn contacts since I was 16 as well as a backup pair of glasses. I've been wearing only glasses for the past few years.I filed an appeal for the claim submitted to *** today as well because they should not have been billed and or paid for anything medical when there was no medical issue.Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Yes, I wish to close this complaint. I'm satisfied with the company's response.

Within a couple hours of my advising them I had filed a complaint with you as well as an appeal and grievance with ********** of Idaho they provided the detailed billing statement showing all charges and a zero balance per my request.

Unfortunately, it took about a month to do that, and if they'd done it initially as I requested I wouldn't have had the additional frustration and time wasted. Hopefully, they'll also be more careful in submitting a medical claim without actually advising the patient there was anything medical or providing medical treatment. This was a general vision appointment that should have only been billed to VSP.

Thank you for your help in this matter.
