Shadeworks did a horrible job installing. Sent the following email to the company after they had missed deadlines, not showed up when expected, not returned calls, etc:Good afternoon guys:Im writing because we have some issues to address with our job. We came home to metal shaving left all over our property. On our lawn chairs, in our grass, all around the pool. We have already had some injuries as a result. The chalk marks were left on the patio. The pavers were not replaced. We have been trying to get someone out but thus far have been unsuccessful. Please let me know when these items will be addressed. ****** Then, to make matters worse, even though they tried to bill us for a job they did not complete. We paid our bill in full (over $14,000), except for $465, which we felt was a fair amount to deduct to cover the professional pressure washing and cleaning we paid to have done on our patio after they left metal shavings and chalk lines everywhere (and our kids cut their feet on the metal shavings). We are disputing the $465 they claim we still owe. We are not going to pay for a job they left in a completely unsatisfactory manner. They also need to remove the account from collections and delete the collection they placed on my credit report.Business Response

We respectfully disagree with the claims made in this review. The only accurate point is that the homeowner decided to short pay us, and we turned in the remaining balance to collections.
Timeline delays were caused by unresponsiveness from both the homeowner and the engineer that they insisted we use for their project. We keep very detailed call logs, email logs, and voice recordings. The job itself turned out beautifully. In good faith, we arranged for a landscaper to reinstall the pavers, even though our proposal clearly states that this is outside our scope of work. Additionally, we promptly cleaned up metal shavings as soon as we were informed of them, although this process was delayed by slow response times from the homeowner.Initial Complaint

I have reason to believe that my home was damaged sometime during the installation of my patio cover. As a result, I have cracking in the siding of my home, and patio where the cover was installed. I have reached out several times to Shadeworks, and have not come to a resolution with them. I have only been given excuses. At one point, I was told over the phone that the damage to my home was a result of choosing a home built by CBH. Additionally, I was questioned why it is I chose to reach out to the company in the timeframe I did (my cover is still under warranty). I would like Shadeworks to make things right, and fix the damages done to my home.Business Response

*****,
We acknowledge your recent communications regarding this issue. As you mentioned, we have discussed this issue, at length, on multiple occasions. We are unsure of what reason you have to believe that ShadeWorks caused any damage to your siding, especially after we have repeatedly shown you the post-installation photos. In those photos, you can clearly see the siding is free of cracks.
The cracks that have developed since the photos were taken, are occurring at the window/door frame corners, which is an indication of foundation settlement. We brought this to your attention and urged you to have CBH come take a look.
Additionally, as you are claiming ShadeWorks damaged your siding during the installation process, it was reasonable to ask why you waited over four months to bring it to our attention.
If you would like to have CBH or a professional siding contractor come out to your home, we would be happy to meet them with you and go over the cause of the cracking.
Looking forward to resolving this issue with you.Initial Complaint

On July 5, 2023...we had Shadeworks come back out to my dad's home where they were supposed to tear down our patio cover and put up a new one. First off they couldn't even pass the inspection by the city. Then their employee admitted on record that he saw my fathers sprinkler line, but cut it anyway because he didnt know it was live. Then they tell my dad he has to pay for the sprinkler damage and rerouting! Even though they even admitted to doing it, and our city inspector even said they messed it up. They wont even offer a refund of our deposit or anything so we're going to be filing in court against them as well for damages. They take zero accountability by claiming in the contract theyre not responsible for anything under ground...understandable EXCEPT WHEN YOUR GUY IS THE ONE WHO RUINED IT admittedly.Business Response

This person isn't our customer. She has made this complaint on the behalf of her father ************************
During the process of digging footings, our installer came across a sprinkler line. It was directly in the center of the footing and was conflicting with the post location. This is a relatively common issue as it is almost impossible to tell where irrigation lines may be hiding, especially when they are under a concrete pad. The location of the posts is determined by the engineering requirements and the placement was outlined in the proposal. If there is a conflict between the post locations and irrigation lines, the lines are cut and removed. The irrigation line cannot run through the footing as it would be encased in concrete. If the footing settled or heaved due to ground conditions, the irrigation line would break and cause flooding. I explained to this persons father that the lines need to be rerouted and he is refusing to do so. We are happy to finish the project once the irrigation line has been rerouted.
I have enclosed the terms and conditions as well as the portion of the proposal with ****************** E-signature.
"SPRINKLER LINES: ShadeWorks, Inc. will not be responsible for damages to underground sprinkler lines. Discovery of a sprinkler line while digging footings will result in ShadeWorks cutting the line for later re-routing by an irrigation professional. Any necessary and associated costs will be the responsibility of the customer."

I am rejecting this response because:not only did they not pass the inspection by the city inspector....the staff who cut the line...didn't cap it...split it wide open, left it and didn't even notify us.My husband went out to check the work and saw the entire hole was flooded then they showed up this morning to cover their error in cement....denied it at first then admitted to his MISTAKE and even said he messed up, we have it on a recording admitting it was his fault and he should've notified us. So you were going to go through with the job without even informing us the pipe was cut and flooding under our patio.
That's beyond unethical, and the inspector was even surprised they were leaving it to flood.
it was negligent business practice period.
Sincerely,

Shade works installed a patio cover in my back yard about two years ago. It has three pillars that hold it up. I had them install decorated rock added to the bottom of each pillar at ****** $ a pillar then it was capped with a concrete top on each pillar. The concrete top has now cracked on two of the pillars and continues to get worse. I called shade works, as they garrinty there work for the life of the patio. They said they have gotten similar complaints from others involving the same issue and would look into why this was happening. The next day I received an email from them that it was a soil issue and that they would not garrenty it. They said they would fix it but it would cast me about ******* per pillar to fix. They never came out to look at it and furthermore only two of the top concrete pillars are cracking. They said it was the movement of the soil that is causing it. I asked them that if the movement of soil was causing it, then why is there NO cracks in the concrete patio floor, Not one. Nor is there any cracks in the rest of the house concrete. Not even in the ********* find it hard to believe there conclusions have any merits as they never even came out to look at it. I also sent them pictures of the defective concrete tops.. I have not heard from them since. I would appreciate anything you could do, even if it is only giving them an F on there BBB report Thank you in advanceBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because: they dont address the point of fixing the cracked rock tops. If they knew that this might happen then they should have acted appropriately when installing the patio, or at least they should of told me that this might happen at witch time I would of decided not to pay the extra **** dollars for the decorative rock base. This is still on shade works shoulders. When they did send someone out, even he said he would not of installed it like it was, and he said he was a contractor that had his own company in the past.
Sincerely,
