On June 18, 20**, I went to have lunch at Bittercreek Alehouse with my husband and accompanied by my service dog. Upon asking for a seat, I was told that they do not allow dogs in their establishment. I then advised the hostess that she was my service dog. She told me that they do not allow any dogs at all. I attempted to provide her a card that outlines my rights, and attempted to verbally educate her. She refused to seat us and we asked to talk to her manager (later identified as ******). After briefly talking to someone, that falsely identified herself as the manager, who told us, I dont care if its a service dog or not, take your dog and get out of here. A gentleman behind her said that he was the manager. He said that he didnt like how we were talking to the staff. I explained that Im just trying to have lunch, was trying to explain my rights, and he told us that their policy is no dogs and to leave immediately. We told him that she is my service dog and again tried to educate him on my rights. We asked for the owners name, and were told that we could look it up ourselves. He told us to leave or else he would call the police. We said that that would be great. He left, the police arrived, we told Officer *** what happened, and that we wanted an Incident Report written up concerning my civil rights being violated (IR#**-0190323). All 3 Bittercreek employees attitude and words were demeaning and hostile. Not once during my interaction with the employees did they ask if it was a service dog. Someone needs to educate this establishment on ADA *** and their obligations.
