From the beginning, *************************** owner of Encore Builders, hasnt been honest with us. First, he told us he would have a quote that weekend after our initial conversation and he said if he had to guess, it would be around $30k. It ended up taking a week and a half before we heard back and the bid he gave us ended up being close to $50k. We understood materials had gone up but not by that much! We should have known from from those red flags that it wasnt going to end well. Second, and the next red flag, we signed a contract saying he would start April 15th and finish June 1st. He didnt start the job the day he said he would, it was several days later and without any notification. Third, he basically subcontracted all the work, which has caused even more of a delay. There were issues with scheduling the plumber and the drywall crew, both setting the finishing date back. But even with these issues, he never told us that he wasnt going to finish by June 1st. We were asking for updates constantly and it was excuse after excuse. Fourth, in the contract, it stated we would give him half of the money up front, another portion 30 days later, and the rest upon finishing. He continued to ask for money here and there stating he needed to pay the other contractors. We believed him, we had no reason not to at this point. Finally, we were constantly reaching out for updates because we had family coming to visit at the beginning of July and he kept telling us it would be done by x day and would send us an updated schedule. As the date approached and no work was getting done, his communication with us became less and less, eventually nonexistent. Its gotten to the point where weve called and texted several times without a response. He left some tools at our home and entered without permission to retrieve them while we were gone. Here we are the middle of July and its not finished. We still have quite a bit that needs to be done and now have to hire someone else.

The schedule was set back because lack of employees. I was finishing two other jobs.Which is why drywall and painting got subbed out. As far as the quote I estimated ****** when I added everything up it was roughly ****** they didn't have to take the job they were not forced or locked into anything all of the money went to material and subcontractors right now I am at ****** about $2,500 out of my pocket I offered to split the additional $3,000 she said that was not an option so in an effort to finish the job I took another job to help pay for that one at that point she threatened a lawsuit as for my tools I have taken them a week prior to this to go do another job she was well aware I was in her house and no point that I enter her home without her knowing when she threaded the legal action I simply stepped away from the whole project so we are disputing about $3,000 in overages which I offered to split with her
