  I am a 70 year old widow. I needed my front porch and sidewalk redone as it had settled and was pulling away from my house (about 5inches) ******* Palei gave me a bid of ***** and I hired him. He came and did the work but it is very shoddy. I didnt realize it until he said he was done, I paid him, and he left. I text him regarding my concerns and sent pictures. He did not respond . I waited about a month and text him again and sent more pictures. This time he did respond and just said it would dry white and had no affect the performance of the slab. The performance of the slab isnt even the issue and it was over a month, I think it was dry. It looks horrible. The west side has letters transferred into the concrete from the board he used for the frame. The north side has rough rock showing. Its not even smoothed out in places. All I asked is that he come fix it. I need to put up a railing and cant/wont until this is repaired. Work done May 6 and 3. Paid him ***** in 2 payments.

  In Sept 2022, ******* Palei built a 13'x7' concrete foundation for a dining room extension. It was out of square 4 inches over 7ft (meaning my wall would hang 4" into the air with no foundation beneath it!). It wasn't level, at some points it was over 1" out of level. And it was 4 inches too long, leaving me with a very unattractive "lip" of concrete that extends out beyond my siding by 4 inches!My agreement with ******* consisted of 2 components, a foundation for my dining room extension, and a patio. We agreed on a price of $14,000. ******* asked for 50% up front, then 30% when half the project was finished, then the final 20% upon completion. I paid him $7,000 up front. After he finished the foundation, he requested another $5,250 which I paid. He then failed to return to do the patio. I had now paid him $12,250. In prepping for framing, we discovered the egregious errors he made. We asked him to come look at it with us, which he did. He agreed his work was so badly done that he couldn't imagine how it got that bad. He agreed he owed me money back, but wasn't willing to write me a check. He said he would return the next day to settle up. He did not return.After consulting with other concrete professionals, they agreed that the work ******* performed was worth, at most, $6000. ******* did not return to install any of the patio or finish the job. I'm asking for $6,684 ($6,250 + $434 for the materials needed to fix his mistakes). In addition, he destroyed my front and side yard, my sprinkler system, and a retaining wall. He takes no responsibility for it, claiming he warned me that his heavy equipment would cause "some damage". I imagined some ruts in the lawn. Instead I have 2 large channels each 18 inches wide and about 12 inches deep, that traverse my lawn. I'll have to start from scratch next spring to level it, plant grass, and install a new sprinkler system. The $6,864 I'm asking for doesn't include any of that damage.

  We hired ******* in July to pour our concrete for our shop. He assured us he could get it done so that we could start building our shop when it arrived in August. Our shop arrived and we still don't have the concrete to even start our build. He required 1/2 down of $8000. We then were to pay 30% when he poured the footings and concrete. We paid both of these amounts due via check and the checks have cleared the bank. He came and poured the footings but no concrete. Since then we have been trying to get back in touch with him to set a date to finish our concrete. He will not respond to texts or phone calls. In total he has been paid $12,800 and has only done $2000 worth of work. I would steer clear of using him. We have asked that he complete the job or give us our money back but still no response from him.
