I called the garage door company to have them come and take a look at my garage door that had stopped working on 2/2/2023. The company came out on 2/8/2023. Their ad states a free estimate would be given. When the garage door company came out the service person never identified himself only states he was here to check out the door. At no time was my wife given or stated any kind of estimate as well what was the work that required to be done. After about ***** minutes the service person knocked on my door and told my wife the door was working. She asked what was wrong and the man stated he did not know he just played with it. A week later we received a bill for over $507.00 I called to dispute the bill and was told by ******, you called to get your door fixed and we fixed it. We never authorized for the work to be done. They said it had to be paid. We paid it because we were told they could place a lien on our home. This company should not automatically do work without a client signature or signing for the repair to be done. Very rude and unprofessional. We would like our money refunded or at least some of it since we did not authorize the work to be done.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/06/2023

      Dear Sir/Madam:
We received a call from the customer on the morning of 2/2/23 requesting that we repair his garage
door opener. He stated that the night before he had watched a u-tube video and tried to fix it himself. When he went to open it on the morning of 2/2/23 it did not work. He discussed what the opener was doing with our inside salesman and it was agreed that it may have to be replaced and that the service
tech would bring a new opener head in case the existing opener head needed replacing. On 2/8/23 our service techs arrived at the customers home and told the customer's wife that they were there to look at the garage door opener. They determined that the existing opener would not retain the open and
closed limits and needed replacing. They replaced the opener head and then talked to the customer's wife and explained that they had replaced the opener head and they needed to reprogram the existing remotes and keyless entry. She gave them the existing remotes and the keyless code and they
proceeded to reprogram them so they would work with the new opener head. We proceeded to invoice the customer for the service call and the new opener head.
We were never asked to give an estimate if we had we would have sent an outside salesman check out the existing opener and provide a written estimate. Also, about 5% of the time when our service techs show up at the customer's home to do the work the customer asks what it will cost and they call the
office to get an estimate of the price prior to doing any work. This did not occur with this repair.
I apologize if anyone in our organization was rude or unprofessional to the customer or his wife.
