This spring when I emailed my tax information to this firm, which *** worked with for many years, they were terrible about communicating and wouldnt answer my questions, basically ghosted me, and eventually refused to do my taxes when I got upset that they missed the deadline. Then, after wasting my time and refusing to do my taxes, they sent me bills in the mail for six months now collections is calling. They never prepared my taxes. They refused to work with me. They ghosted me. I dont think its fair for me to be billed for this treatment. Im working with a new firm at this point. I have not paid the bill, and have gotten calls from collections now. I want them to let this bill go, they didnt provide a service to me and instead treated me terribly. I dont know what changed this year.

We have not invoiced ****************** this year at all, and her claim that we sent her bills is false.  We also have not turned her into collections, and her claim that collections is calling her is also false (or if they are, it is not because of any billing from our office).  The last time we invoiced ****************** was for preparation of her 2021 tax return, in early 2022.  She paid that invoice, last year.  For her 2022 tax return, which would have been prepared in early 2023, she missed our cutoff date for providing information to file without an extension (she was very late providing us with her tax information).  When we informed her that she was late and would have to extend, she became angry, belligerent, and threatening.  Because of her aggressive behavior, we asked her to take her business elsewhere, and we did not prepare her 2022 tax return.  At that time our office had accumulated time at hourly billing rates that we had not yet billed for tax planning and answering questions the previous fall, but in an effort to prevent further issues with ******************, we actually wrote off those fees and did not send her a bill.  In short, ********************** claim is false.  She was fired by our firm for exhibiting threatening behavior to our office, and is no longer a client, and we did not bill her.  We suspect she is still angry about that so she is trying to cause problems for us by filing this claim.  We have not sent her any bills in over a year.  She does not have an outstanding balance with our office and we have not turned her into collections.

Apologies - I just encountered additional information.  It appears that ****************** took an ENTIRE YEAR to pay her bill with our office from preparation of her 2021 return.  We invoiced her in March 2022 for $750.  Evidently she ignored monthly statements and didn't pay that bill, until March of 2023, an entire 12 months later.  We did not ever invoice her for any work performed in 2023 though, and after we fired her we wrote off the time we had accumulated.  The last thing we billed her for was her 2021 tax return preparation, in March of 2022, and she paid that bill (plus 12 months' finance charges for being late) in March 2023.
