January 24, 2013, BBB recognized a pattern of complaints from consumers
regarding advertising issues. Consumers allege they are led to believe through
Drivers Services high ranking search results, search terms and services listed
on the website, they are able to pay to update or renew their driver’s license
through the websites. Consumers allege that after submitting payment, they are
provided a guide for license renewal rather than a renewed license. Consumers
further allege the company’s website gives the impression of a government run
site and does not clearly indicate they are not able to renew their drivers’
license.
Drivers Services is working with BBB to
eliminate the underlying pattern of complaints. The company has indicated it
has added several disclaimers on its website indicating that driver’s license
renewal can only be done through an official DMV location or website. It
further indicated that they have rebranded their guide product in an attempt to
clarify that consumers are purchasing a guide rather than a driver’s
license.
As
of July 13, 2017, BBB continues to receive complaints concerning similar issues
against Drivers Services.

As
of July 13, 2017, found the company is operating under similar generic trade names
and advertising its services through multiple similar looking websites. The
company informed BBB it is located in Meridian, Idaho. BBB has been
unable to determine company ownership, state licensure/registration and a
physical location in Idaho, Oregon, Ohio and Louisiana. BBB has verified
every address provided or advertised by the company is a private mailbox
rental.
