    Complaint: 19381601

I am rejecting this response because:

First, to correct the work completed: It was to change out one faucet. The original request was two faucets but the plumber felt the other faucet would not be able to be changed out because of the configuration of the counter. We agreed he would only change out the one faucet at that time. There was nothing wrong with the actual materials - the problem was in the plumber's labor. Because he installed it in a faulty manner, it caused damage to the house and I was left with a leaking pipe all night.

Yes, Handyman Connection did offer to send the plumber back to fix the situation but he had already been at my house THREE times for that one simple job and after the damage was done, I told Handyman Connection I could not let him back to do any more work. I think the fact that Handyman Connection also apparently lost confidence in the plumber and stopped working with him after this incident validates my concern. I think because the work was not done correctly, and subsequently created damage means I did not receive the services I paid for and should be reimbursed. This is poor customer service and certainly not what I was led to believe would happen after several phone calls with the company. I was assured they would "make things right."

    Sincerely,

    ***********************

faulty work which I do not believe I should pay for. Especially since they have severed connection with the plumber who did the work and they accepted responsibility and acknowledged the work was faulty. I would like the $300 to be refunded. (I did end up paying another plumber $172 to do the work correctly and he said the fittings had not been attached right).I am attaching the bill from the other plumber (Meridian Plumbing) that notes the fittings had not been attached correctly, the bill from Ultra Clean (the company that did the repair work, to show you that damage was done as result of Handyman Connection), and the receipt from Handyman Connection for my payment of $300 on Nov. 22, 2022, which is the amount I would like refunded.

    To whom it may concern,
We were hired by *********************** to change out two faucets. We completed the work of changing out two faucets on 11/22/2022. I have included that invoice.  *********************** paid $300 for this work on 11/22/2022 with her ***** ***** then called on 11/23/2022 and notified us that she had found water under the sink. We tried to come back out immediately to fix it and she refused. She told us she had a different plumbing company coming out that following Monday 11/28/2022. I called ***** on 11/29/2022 after not hearing back from her to check in and make sure she was taken care of. The other plumbing company, Meridian Plumbing stated that the compressed fitting had not been compressed enough and therefore the hot side was leaking once the water was turned on. ***** had Meridian Plumbing change out the supply lines that we had installed (and she had supplied) to braided supply lines instead of fixing the current ones. During that call is when she informed me that she had called a water remediation company (UltraClean). The company UltraClean had set up fans to dry out the area. They did not have to cut out any drywall or any other remediation work. UltraClean set up two fans and left them there. UltraClean then reported that when they came back everything was dry and no other mitigation had to occur. We took responsibility for that leak and paid ***** for the water mitigation invoice from UltraClean. We paid *********************** $662.50 with check number #**** on 12/18/2022 and she cashed that check on 12/21/2022. We should not have to refund the $300 for the work that we did complete, and would have immediately fixed it had she allowed us to. She chose to hire a different plumbing company, she chose to have the supply lines changed out instead of tightening the loose ones and therefore is responsible to pay for that invoice.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

On 6/27/2022, I agreed to have Handyman Connection complete deck work as per attached invoice. The scope of work is indicated on invoice dated 7/1/2022 including a change order for steps with a payment towards materials of $2564.57.

Handyman Connection sent a father/daughter team who was completely unqualified leaving not only a deck needing to be deconstructed, but many ***** nails and materials stroon around the property. I cannot emphasize enough, I live in a senior park and share my space with the common area creating a hazardous situation. You can see some of the work in the pictures provided.

Handyman Connection sent ******************* who was supposed to deconstruct the work and complete per Invoice 7/23/2022. Although I did pay for materials, I also paid $1,000 for as a progress payment hoping this would have a completion date?

**** walked off the job leaving it incomplete and without railings, front steps attached or completed per code. The deck and railless back stairs were a mess. The trek on the deck was ok along with the back stairs. Railing, stairs nor was the lattice work as shown on the invoice. **** said he wasnt going to return.

I hired Fence Pro Idaho on 9/1`2/2022  to complete the lattice work for $1,071.00 which took 3 days.  I also hired R.D. Handyman Service LLC to complete the deck for $2,084.02. (invoices attached. Handyman Connection is now trying to charge $10,162.24 for work they never shouldve agreed to do with inexperienced help.

The only reason I chose HC is the start date. I received 3 additional bids, but due to scheduling, wouldnt be able to start until late June. I have a mother with dementia to take care of out of state and this not only was a personal hassle, but caused great stress. This has been the worst experience dealing with a contractor Ive ever experienced and Ive owned property since the 80s. Hiring HC has been a stressful costly mistake.

Invoice dated 7/23//2022 is the last invoice I approved showing a balance of $5,984.14 less a $1,000.00 progress payment and minus the work never performed.

Hello, ***** hired us to: Demo and dispose of carpet and decking material on front deck, stairs and back entry, cover 4 metal posts with LP SmartSide trim, install Trex like material decking on front deck, stairs and back entry ***price may change if
we need to add joists to make deck sturdier for Trex like material decking***, install siding and trim around the sides of front deck, stair faces and back entry, install vinyl railings on front deck, stairs and back entry. The materials included with original estimate: Siding, trim, vinyl railing, screws, decking. Once our Craftsman ****** took the decking material off, we discovered that the deck had to have the the joists repaired and replaced in order to make the deck sturdy enough for the Trex like material decking. We then sent ****, one of our senior Craftsman to help and he took over the project. He not only repaired and replaced the joists but also raised the deck for ***** because she requested to not have an edge from the deck into her front door. She also added work for ****, ie: painting. We have increased the original labor estimate to include this extra work in labor price and materials. We notified ***** that the price may change verbally, since the beginning as well as in writing on the estimates. When ***** refused to pay for the extra materials that have been used on her deck, **** refused to go back to finish the work until she agreed to pay. We have explained to her that she is responsible to pay for all of the extra work added and the materials that have been used on her deck. Once she agrees to this and makes a payment to bring her account current, then **** will go back to finish the project. I have even offered to have ***** come in to our office and discuss her options and to look at the materials receipts that prove what materials we have paid for and used on her project but she has yet to come in.
